Zoe's Quick Pick: Rebel Hope Designs - Fabria Mesh Gown

If mesh means that I can get stuff like this, then bring it on! Yay for many designers, including Rebel Hope, to bring Second Life's newest upgrade of Mesh to life. I'm showing off Rebel's Fabria Mesh Gown for sale in multiple colors.

DO try the demo first and be prepared to adjust your shape if you plan on strolling out on the grid. She did provide 2 version - but just because it has an alpha does not mean it will fit perfectly without some body adjustments. I shrunk down my boob size a bit to make it work for my shape.

And a note to SL creators - just because you can't do mesh, does not mean you should stop creating or steer you away from your own personal creativity on the grid.

And if you want to experience mesh you need to make sure you're in a newer viewer, otherwise it will look like a sculpt that hasn't rezzed. Also helpful tip of the day: Unable to stop looking like a cloud when logging in? Wear a different eyebrow/bald shape and you should see yourself again! Also, don't forget set the default rendervolumeLODFactor to a minimum of 4.000 (Advanced > Show Debug Settings > type "rendervolumeLODFactor")

I took this picture for my own liking, but decided I might as well blog it too.

I'm featuring Maitreya's stunning Asymmetric Dress in Lollipop. It was seriously difficult to pick just one color...so I got two! I also picked Oil, which you can check out at the store if you desire. The belt is color change by script and sculpted pieces are scripted to help size as well.

I'm wearing with the dress, LeLutka's Loose hair, Maitreya's Allegre heels, LAQ's Olivia skin, Insufferable Dastard eyes and a Je Suis Bangle. The pose is no longer available as well as the bed that I'm posing on.

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Airy

This look started with the new Zarra's Classic Jeans. I decided to choose white because I've always liked the look and also those new white watches are currently in style, even if I decided not to go with one.

I'm in awe of Maitreya's latest release of Allegre heels and have been prouncing around in them a lot! Especially with the multiple color options you can choose with the straps, easy to match to whatever you're wearing.

The Broderie Anglais Blouse by League has the right amount of delicate touches with cuteness that I felt worked for a relaxing summer feel. I picked it up before I put this look together and am grateful that I choose off-white.

!lamb released the Wild Thing styled in one of her new colors called Washed Out for 50L Fridays - I haven't been the craziest about the colors but it grew on me especially with this look.

I adore this Bunny Bag that I picked up during the seasons hunt by TokiD. Including it in the look brings is the whimsy that I like to bring. I also think it is so creative!

Meil's Friendo bracelet - first I love the "friendo" name, though most likely not to be literally from the movie, No Country For Old Men, I still will giggle. The Hipster Peepers, glasses, are also by Meil - a 50L Friday buy. If you haven't checked out her selection, you're missing out! By this point she has quite a few pieces varying in designs that still captures her creative style.

Skin choice for me was up in the air, I browsed through my inventory and remembered this newer Dutch Touch release called RooS - found this popping blue make-up (Nr 2) and it stuck!

Insufferable Dastard, my now eye of choice released new eyes called Mirror. I'm featuring thye Blue-Green shade style and most likely you'll be seeing more soon!

The poses I used for these pics are by LAP aka Long Awkward Pose - she recently made some poses for longer hair so that they drape and not poke in and out of your chest. Check them out when you shop.

So that's my look pictured in my new skybox that I plan to shoot my blog pics in from now on. Funny how the colors also matched my look!

I've been working on the organization of my inventory and think it is about time to delete some items. I'm a bit of a hoarder especially when it comes to my ETD hairs.

In order to help me, I decided to take pictures of the styles as a memory. This is also something that I do in RL when it comes to old t-shirts or stuffed animals. A picture only takes up disk space which helps when space gets a bit tight. Thus I've decided to share with you a tribute, so to speak, of ETD. Smell that? A lot of sculpty twisting and contortion has occurred to bring us the latest Hair Fair. As you've most likely seen by a lot of others, the Hair Fair opened to the public today.

I've made my rounds fighting the lag and crowds to find some favorites and hope to go back after checking out the demos that intrigue my senses. Lights, Camera, Action!!

Drama seems to be a common theme for SLers, but the kind of drama doesn't always have to be in the social atmosphere. It can be found in pictures. A good way to create drama is playing off of light and shadow. Somtimes it can be with a crop or even with color. It also can be accomplished with styling to strike a mood.

Never be afraid to play because sometimes what is around a corner is so much more fabulous than what could have previously been imagined.

Yesterday a friend of mine had a fabulous picture but was stuck trying to make it work right in the proper dimensions she needed. Playing with rotation we found the proper fitting that still allowed the picture to sing its full glory. Might not have been what she really wanted but still worked.

Never give up, never stop trying, and leave the social drama at the doorstep.

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Bloom

With all the tornadoes and thunderstorms going on today - I think I could use a reminder that we're in SPRING!! First, my thoughts are to Joplin, MO. I have some family and a lot of friends in the area. I even used to go shopping there all the time. It is sad to see so much destruction and always makes me think of other weather related tragedies across the world. As with anything we have to bloom after the storms.

Inspiration for this look comes from the white Enna dress by L'Abel. I was invited to come browse their summer collection that will be available to all come next Saturday, May 28th. I love the fresh breezy feeling of a white dress. It reminds me of my cousin who owned a frilly white nightgown that I have forever imagined and admired in my memories.

Immediately I paired the look with the Peonies headband from LaGyo. A new discovery for me - be ready to see more featuring pieces from their hat and jewelry collection. The big flowers lent much inspiration with the Pink Fuel, Kumi skin that I picked up during the Pacific Crisis Fundraiser.

And I had to go for something really UP-do styled. I chose to go with Boon's YN0421 high bun in black. It is meant to be worn with Boon's hair bases that match all the shades of their hair - so you never have to worry about matching it up properly!

Some more Shoe Fair 2011 lovin' - sporting these elegant ivory Vilda heels by G Field. The feathers add a touch of whimsy and style. PSST the Shoe fair continues through to Friday, May 27th - Make sure you check it out before it is over!!

And since we're not quite into summer yet, I tossed on the Loire Knit Shrug in blue by Mon Tissu. It brought out the blue in my Insufferable Dastard Light Sensitive light blue eyes.

Walking the shoe fair a bit early by invitation was an unexpected treat - so was finding the store Treads with these unbelievable shoes! Treads' 77 Loafers in Banane are the inspiration for this look. Definitely my fave finds of the fair for this year - unique and different in the textures - they are unisex but I'm showing off my masculine side for this post. I did end up tinting them a touch darker to blend a little bit more with the look in the end. I'll let the rest of the look speak for itself but this is pretty much what came to mind.

Oh one side note for guys - sometimes ladies' fashions work out - the blazer/hat/socks are all female designed items but with some tweaking they worked!

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Hitch

Trains are a common sight in my hometown and is an essential service to many locations across the world. Even if the look was not inspired by the location; as soon as I put on the girlpack by LAP, I knew that I had to hit up AM Radio's art installment at IDIA Laboratories (123,105,2058). If you haven't been to one of AM's sims you're missing out!

The look started with the Minx shorts by Mon Tissu. I thought about grabbing a fatpack but wanted to try on a pair first as sometimes shorts with prims don't work out. I was happy to say that these were perfect without having to do a single adjustment - that's a rarity! Look for me showing off other colors in future blog posts!

Originally I started with a cropped sweater jacket but all that went out the window when I discovered this open shirt with tank by Argrace in my inventory. Mainly Argrace has converted over to creating only hair but looks like they still have some clothing if you haven't stopped by in awhile.

I've had these riding boots by Mon Tissu in my inventory for awhile that I had planned in another look that didn't work out in the end. When I bought them I didn't want to go for the typical brown or black shades and I'm still happy that I went with vintage red.

A first for this blog is to feature hair by Milana. I'm a bit mixed on her hair - I love it in the pictures but sometimes I find it hard to fit to my head properly or find the right angle in a pose. I have worn her style before with some major mods, this time I didn't mod it at all. I'm wearing the Joy II hair. I find that sometimes I want the sculpts to be out to show off the textures she includes to create the flexi style. They're really beautifully done!

I picked up the girlpack pose set by LAP at the pose fair this year. I didn't really think about using it for this look until I was digging for some different poses. Once i put on the pack and tinted it - I knew it would make the outfit along with the setting.

I always like to feature different skins and totally transform my look each time. I decided to go with the soft hues of LAQ's Tess2. It brought out that doll like face that I felt fit the mood I wanted for the picture along with the delicate freckled specks.

As for eyes, I'm sticking with Insufferable Dastard again for this post wearing Light Sensitive in dark brown.

Eyes are the window to the soul. Eyes are also something that I talk about a lot. You can have the perfect shape, skin, hair...but if you don't have the right eyes - it can ruin a picture. Dead eyes don't do you any favors.

Eyes bring out a lot of emotion especially in a close up like I'm demonstrating here. Today I received a prim update to the shine eyes I previously purchased. .Insufferable Dastard. by Audrey Lamede has an awesome selection that I've frequently used in blog posts and photography. Note that I have put my own touch on the picture, but the even if you don't they're very well done.

A Little Bit of Photography by Zoe Demar - Cropping

A great photo consists of many things tied together. One of the most important aspects that differentiates a good photo from a great photo is composition.

In the visual arts — in particular painting, graphic design, photography and sculpture — composition is the placement or arrangement of visual elements or ingredients in a work of art, as distinct from the subject of a work. It can also be thought of as the organization of the elements of art according to the principles of art. - Wikipedia (click link for more details)

One way to help achieve this in any photo is by cropping photos appropriately. One rule of thumb to keep in mind is to avoid cutting off limbs in awkward places. Cutting off feet is something I commonly see made with a lot of good photographers on the grid. If you have to crop off at the legs, I recommend hitting about mid calf or mid thigh. Same applies with arms - don't cut off right at the elbows - hit mid forearm or bicep.

Keep in mind the focus of the photo. Whether it be landscape, model, fashion, object or shoe - make sure that you don't have so much going on that the photo loses the subject.

My biggest suggestion is to play. Following I'm showing an example of playing with different crops all from the same photo.

You see that even playing with the dimensions causes your eye to look at different elements but all maintaining the focus, which in this case should be the model.

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Sky High

I wanted to feature a bit of a store called, Erratic. They're new but high quality with a LOT of color. Erratic currently covers a lot of hip club and sporty styles. They're located on the LE LOOK SOUTH sim.

I'm showing off more of a sporting style mix displaying their razorback tank, sporty shorts, and striped socks. Note: I did a bit of photo-shopping on the shorts to fix the annoying glitch that all SL designers have to put up with. I won't go into a long explanation of it but it is extremely frustrating and limited pixel area.

As far as the rest of the look goes, LAP's Skater Chic Poses definitely were a big part of the inspiration. Elikatira's Play hair was perfectly suited paired up with Pink Fuel's early teaser and highly anticipated release of Kumi skin part of the Pacific Crisis Fundraiser. An oldie but a goodie, Porn Star's Xtra Hi-Tops that come in a wide variety of customizable/scripted colors and textures. One of my top places to hit up on a regular basis or for Fifty Linden Fridays. League's creator, Nena Janus not only creates some of my favorite skins and fashions on the grid - she's started to release some jewelry pieces to throw into the mix. Jackie-O was feeding through a bit yesterday evening while out shopping. Funny thing is, the item that channeled the style didn't end up in the final look, but sometimes that's how it goes. I'm wearing mostly fri.day items (Mandy hair, White Trousers, Longsleeve Boatneck Tee (modded)) in this look to help out those on a budget - TAG SALE is going on now through Thursday, September 10th.

Other quicky notes to point out - this is the second time I'm featuring Elikatira's Flair Flats. And Miel definitely shouldn't be known for clothes but their accessories! I'm showing off two items here the Blood Diamonds Ring and Bella Peepers. I'm also gladly showing off Tuli's Zoe skin...(even if it is or isn't named after me - I'm a long time Tuli fan and thus I'm still gonna think it is pretty darn cool). A usual for me, Exodi's Zbilja eyes in brown - most likely my fave collection of eyes on the grid even if I've had em for awhile. I love the light reflection and depth of color esp in the brown shade. I'm featuring one of the props by POSEUR called Seductress. I decided to change up the bed to add some various colors and selected two of the poses to snap some pics wearing some of my fave fashions.

Tram has released some new clothes today. I'm wearing Tram's Godetia dress as well as one of the Pintuck tops. I paired the top up with Maitreya's Boyfriend Jeans. Time for some warmer weather - at least that is the hope! Zaara just released this beauty of a top call Zayba that comes in her typical amazing colors shown here on the right.

Ah I love shopping and coming across a new store to me - I am impressed by the collection over at Madi's Secrets. I was happy to find the time and effort that Madilyn Ling has put into her lingerie. The shine in the satin and detailing in the lace had me fall in love. In another piece that I picked up called Coffee Brocade, she has the seams in the pattern matching perfectly! Trying my own hands at designing, this area is a nightmare and I congratulate Madilyn for doing what many won't. I look forward to seeing more pieces to come!

It is always a surprise sometimes that certain stores haven't been blogged by me before. One store in particular is Indyra Originals. I've been a fan for awhile and even did a photograph for her store in the past, but sometimes a piece just doesn't work out right with the look that I'm going for. That changed today as I made my focus the blouse of Indyra's Catalan in Antique Rose. A fine pair of jeans even comes along with the blouse but I wouldn't be true to my blog style by sticking with them. Instead incorporated other pieces.

I will say it wasn't the easiest look because the top does require some technique to match properly mainly due to the cut. I also didn't wanna go the easy route and put a pair of jeans with it especially when the outfit already includes a pair. SO a skirt was in order. At first I tried something I had been eying for awhile but was a bit too high wasted and didn't give the proper silhouette that every girl wants. Then I stumbled upon the perfect fit at Maitreya which surprisingly enough was already in my inventory, the Viento skirt in Eggplant.

Truth hair was on my head while shopping and though it worked for the look, as soon as I put on the elikatira boots it was going a bit more country than what I wanted. I browsed through Truth's webstore on the marketplace and decided on Sonya Streaked in Barley. This helped pull the more sexy appeal that I wanted with the blouse.

As mentioned the new Secret boots by elikatira in Sepia was perfect to pull out the gold belt option of the top and accessories (Catalan Ring & Snakeskin Clutch Purse) that Indyra already had matched with the look.

One skin that I have been wearing the past few days but hasn't been released yet - I'm happy to share that the wait for Belleza's Erika should be over SOON!! I'm showing off the Erika Sunkissed tone in make-up #8. I really like the variety of make-ups that Tricky is releasing in the Erika skin line and refuse to tease anymore about it.

And I am featuring Tres Blah eyes in blue...again!

A Little Bit of Photography by Zoe Demar - Depth of Field

Sometimes persistence pays off. I named this photo after that word for the fact of how much time it took to grab a snapshot. It is strange that I have a more difficult time with my new computer to pull off high res images than it was with my old computer - but I am tossing more technical things at it now. A picture that looks simple can be much more technically challenging. Something to remember when checking out photos.

The image shown here was taken with Kristens Viewer S20 with the settings at ultra which allows for both shadows and a new feature called Depth of Field aka DOF.

What is Depth of Field?
This is the short Wikipedia definition:
In optics, particularly as it relates to film and photography, the depth of field (DOF) is the portion of a scene that appears sharp in the image. Although a lens can precisely focus at only one distance, the decrease in sharpness is gradual on each side of the focused distance, so that within the DOF, the unsharpness is imperceptible under normal viewing conditions. Eyes have DOF naturally, when you focus on your finger in front of your face the rest of the scene behind the focus becomes blurry.

The effects work very smoothly on my machine but as soon as I try to save a snap - forget it! Even doing a typical print screen wasn't working at the time to I went to my Fraps program to grab a screenshot and post-editing in some shadows (I was 100% out of sunlight in this shot) and highlights this is the result.

Can I do pictures like this?
Yes, but you do have to have the machine to do it on first and foremost. With my old video card I didn't have near enough technical power to get shadows let alone this new feature - so prepare to be disappointed. Otherwise if you have a decent computer and video card, prepare to have patience and persistence when SL crashes or other random things seem to come up in the process. And if you have an ultra computer - good for you! Hopefully you don't have near the problems as I have had in order to snap 1 photograph.

I will say however, it was worth it - I do enjoy the potential of having more time to snap some pictures with the DOF options in Kristens Viewer. I hope that playing around with settings will allow me less time to grab a shot in the long run. It brings another element of reality to the Second Life world as well as saving me time in photoshop.

I don't spend a lot of time on my blog to talk about SL photography because I like to keep it mainly focused on SL fashion. Here and there I'll bring up snippets but that's about it. I guess I've decided to change up my format a little bit more for the new year. I do wish I had more time to spend in Second Life for photography and other things but time is limited.

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Keep It Casual

New years brings a lot of thoughts of goals and ambitions to the mind. Sometimes I can't wait for the year to be over...other times I wouldn't mind the year sticking around. 2010 involved a lot of bad health stories in my family, but some other major positives out of it all. I'm hoping for a good start to 2011 but don't want to look too far ahead into the future and just keep it casual. Which is what I did for this first look of the year.

Make sure you go check out the dressing room, if you haven't had a chance yet. They're doing, "best of's" sale which has a good selection of items out from designers. I'm showing off one of my buys with the Glam Affair skins called Jadis. I'm typically mixed on the skins that Glam Affair puts out, but when you can get one for 70L typically you'll see me pick it up!

Exile also has released this new hair called Nikki and has a New Years Eve version out for free for awhile underneath the tree in his store. I'm really impressed at how much Exile has put out over the past year and really feel like the quality matches. Sometimes he can be a bit wild, but that's what I love about it too!

The top is from a store that is new to me called, LouLou&Co. They have a few clothing pieces that I really liked as well as some jewelry and shoes. I spotted the brand when out shopping at a SL, "mall" for lack of a better word. I like the Jelly Pop top that comes already in a combo top. Which saves time when I'm putting together looks. Also sometimes layering doesn't quite work the way I want it to so I appreciate designers that take the initiative to do so.

Mon Tissu, I believe should mean love, because that is what it says to me when I first heard of them and they definitely delivered. Congrats on their opening with imaginative and creative styles that I gaga'd over for days. These Balcon Lounge Pants are part of their second release and though some might think they should stay in the bedroom, I say shout it to the world!

Who knew elikatira would be back again releasing hair and now shoes?! These Flair Flats are part of her brand new collection featuring many new styles. I may be a Elika hair fanatic but will gladly accept anything she designs into my inventory.

Ah some tattoos to bring a new dimension into my look. I decided to pull out an oldie from my GoK aka Garden of Ku collection called YlangYlang - we all need some of that this new year!

Manna's Victoria bracelet was another piece I picked up in the SL, "mall" and another store new to me! Best thing about going to satellite store locations - shopping around! I hope to show off another one of the pieces that I picked up from Manna later.

And since I have talked about these Ibanez eyes before - my brief - good eyes, pick them up if you want something new to add to your collection.

Zoe's Fashion Feature: Tram

It is so nice that even after years of being in Second Life I can still find something new that I adore! The newest release from Tram caught my attention but it isn't the first time I have come across the designer! moca Loup is definitely a designer I will be visiting from now on.

I bought the Narcissus dress at Designer's United (center picture). It isn't available for sale in this color but she does have other shades for sale at her main store. It was an automatic purchase at the time but like many things it gets in my inventory as a "gotta blog about" or "photograph must" and gets a bit lost in the shuffle. So unfortunately until today I had not yet been to Tram's store.

I picked up the beige colored Piping shirt today (right picture). I had seen it initially on some blogs here and there and fell in love with the effortless feel. My favorite fashion pieces in RL or SL will have that type of quality. I don't think it is something you can produce when trying, but comes naturally with the end design. In SL's case the flow of the flexi in a skirt.

Wandering through the store I fell in love with all the pieces for one reason or another but what I like most is the creative and unique looks to the items. I'm not sure of where she gets her inspiration but I am very excited to see what she'll come out with next. One of the stand out pieces was the Drape dress (left picture). This is the first of these types of skirts I have seen and very well crafted with the use of a flexi skirt underneath.

And a great thing about Trap - they do more than clothes. There are animations (group gift at the entrance btw), accessories, and shoes! I'm wearing one of the cool jewelry accessories in two of the pictures called, "classic hair accessory" in yellow.

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Skipping Stone

I am in a blogging mood this weekend! This look is inspired by the new hair bases and hairs by Boon. One of the best hair bases created by a hair creator versus a skin creator. There are a few different styles available. I picked up a couple straight off and am looking forward to seeing what will be next. Oh and if you hurry, you can get 50% off with Boon's sale on their newest releases!

&Bean's Old Bones skin in Rose, which I had potentially used in my last blog post, was my first choice and inspired the rest of the look. I did decide to add some drama to the look by pulling out an eye make-up tattoo by Kyoot in smokey dark red. Which brings out Exodi's Zbilja eyes in brown.

Kyoot created this cute top that includes the jewelry textures. There are a few color options but I went the light pink version. Self-Evident for it's name is right! It is a bit revealing on the sides (not shown) so if you're modest, not necessarily the best top for you, but I like it!

I was having a little bit of a hard time deciding on my lower half at this point and was still deciding on some sort of jacket to go with the top. I scoured Emery and spotted these Denim B-Zip jeans. I really like the bold zippers and deep blue color (not the best pics to show em off, but you get the idea). I did have quite the time keeping my head straight wandering through Emery. Please do a store makeover, I felt like I was in a maze. Love your stuff, Emery, just hard to find what I was originally hunting for.

I've had these new Gos' Urban Boots lined up to do a bit of a military look (I got the fatpack which has all the colors scripted into the boot for easy styling) but with the jeans pulling the look out of what I had originally intended...I went for something a bit more fall.

Which is where last year's Aoharu released Nordic Knit Coat in Gray comes into play. It really brought a cozy feeling to the look in the end. Which is something I love about mixing old with new! Sometimes old doesn't look so "old" if it fits the look!

And the poses by Olive Juice really brought this image to life! Keep on creating!

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - All Dolled Up

Who can resist such a fashionable dress?! It came into view across my flickr contacts and had to be mine. It is brand new called Orelle by Tee*fy for winter available in 6 shades, if I recall properly. Color choices are so difficult sometimes!! I went with black due to the color of the bow and sparkle in the skirt texture. Typically you'd see me use either only the top or the skirt, but I really loved the sophisticated feel that the overall design brought to the table.

Stunning, elegant, clean are the three words that I wanted to go for this look. I pulled out one of the newer 69 hairs called Jessica 2, which I absolutely adore!

I knew I wanted some sort of hair piece. I was thinking feathers but recalled this hat that was the first piece that brought my attention to the Rozoregalia brand. The detail in the texture of the sculpted flowers heightens the detail of the overall style.

As for skin, I checked out &Bean but went with Redgrave's Trinity in Tan to warm up the look. I'm happy to see Redgrave producing skins again! Also if you haven't checked out the redesign of their build it is fabulous and should stop by to gander.

Heels were easy! I've wanted to put a look together with Maitreya Gold's Hana for awhile. They make me want to go dancing. I would love to find a lovely flamenco dress to pair up with another color in the future.

And just to add a bit of sparkle, although hidden with the pose (by LAP), is the Leather Blossom ring by Paper Couture.

Last but not least, the eyes - which I've used before in other shades is JeJune by Tres Blah, this time in Violet.

Design Tip - always pull in harmony of three. Silver is found in the hat, heels, and skirt/bow; the tan in the hair, bow, and ring. Overall not really noticeable, but you'll like it for some reason or another to bring balance to the look.

I worked on adding a new page to my blog regarding my blogging policies. Blogging takes a lot of time to do. It really means a lot when a stranger or friend comments in my plurk, blog, flickr, or even in an IM. Just the other day I got a compliment which feels good. I do blog for my own rambling mind and joy but always a bonus getting recognized for it too.

I know a lot of people have their own ideas pertaining to their own blogs. I decided to put my thoughts in order regarding to discussions I have heard mentioned over the years. Like many, I have my own reservations about what to do and not do but not about to go put my opinions and views on somebody else. But do hope for ethics and honesty to be used overall.

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Scottish Dahlia

Sometimes a new find can change everything! That is what happened in this look that was first inspired by the hair, but then other items crept in that pulled their own tugs to the overall look.

It started with the newest release of hair by lamb called Cinnamon. The hair is very relaxed and romantic feel to the texture and style of hair. I really thought about doing a back shot to show off how lovely it is from the back as well as the front. I picked up both versions, one with bangs (shown) and one with a center part. I'm loving the newer blonde shade of honeycomb that lamb has added to the blonde pack too (shown).

Originally I was wearing a sweater by LeLutka that will just have to wait for another blog post. The sweater which I was hunting for a skirt to fit with, turned into this lovely sculpted dress shown in Scottish Dahlia found spontaneously on the marketplace by The Secret Store. There are 3 other texture versions available that are also stunning. I asked for hubby's opinion on which one to buy. Cute shop, n ot a huge selection but am definitely putting on my "must check out again" list.

From there the skin was inspired by my friend Leah plurking about it. She was happy that it shared her name, Leah. I'm kinda in a pale mood so decided to pick up a copy for myself. I've owned a Lara Hurley skin before, but decided not to blog about it due to a lot of people having issues with not only finding the store but not being booted as well. I don't know if it is still a common occurrence or not, but you've been warned!

The eyes by Ibanez were mentioned in another plurk by Valena. She was doing a bit of a new look for herself. I'm picky about eyes but am always happy to find a new store (to me) to talk about. There were a couple of sets that intrigued me. This Limited Edition Naturals set sold me the most. I wasn't digging the size of the iris itself when wearing the eye texture. So was almost thrown out (btw I think size options for eyes is a good idea). Then I tried on the prim and found it not as large. Also something I hadn't really thought about is the texture on prim better than what you can get with typically worn SL textures. If you check out your clothes if it has both prim and texture parts, the prim textures are much more sharp than what you see on the SL mesh. This is something that frustrated me with my own SL clothes making in the past. In photoshop, I could see much more detail. SL resolution of the mesh dumbed it down a bit. So having prim eyes would be more detailed. Something to remember when shopping for eyes!

As for the rest of the look, I wasn't sure what I wanted to do for shoes, but didn't want anything to overpower the dress. I traveled to Maitreya to see if there was anything that I didn't already have sparked my interest. At first I considered one that I don't currently own, but decided to go with a neutral of IXkin in Champagne.

For accessories, I did think about sunglasses that would be similar to what lamb had used in the ad for the hair, but decided to nix that when I found the dress. Instead I wanted some sort of organic long necklace. I went through my inventory finding a couple pieces that would do here and there, but felt like venturing out for options. I thought of two places, Sigma being one of them. I had avoided the store, not because I didn't like it, but knew that my pockets would most likely be empty if I went. I'm happy I did, the sim itself is worth the trip (other than the annoying water fountain sounds). And there it was, the perfect piece. Sigma's Deco chain necklace. I was really intrigued that even though a single change drapes down the front, the fact that it wasn't perfectly centered allowed more for an organic flow. It is nice to see curves and asymmetric pieces in jewelry. And that was it, I considered bangles, but went for simplicity and not a lot of bulk. I really dislike seeing jewelry worn so heavily.

The look being hugely changed based on finding the dress, I decided to name this post after it!

My SL time is much more limited these days, but I still find myself enjoying spending time on the weekends to do photography. These pictures purely are meant to fulfill my needs of a creative outlet. Typically I leave my blog to more styled outlets than creative photography, but I decided to share.

Both were inspired by LAQ's Mima [Pale] Glow skins along with Elikatira hair. Sparkling Diamonds also features some earrings from Paper Couture and the dress from the Halloween giftbag from LeLutka (no longer available - time limited item)

Time for some yum in menswear! Connors - a new designer (to me) has been catching my eye with their clothes. I couldn't resist this shirt. There are a few different texture variations but I had to go with black. That's when I knew exactly what I wanted to put together.

This hair by Shag has been screaming at me since the hair fair to be photographed. Its called, Boys Don't Cry (v.2) and I have wanted feature this hair for a bit. It has a tuft of spiked hair in the front with a black fedora styled hat. Originally I was thinking about going for blonde, but ended up choosing the shade midnight, which is a blue tinted black.

It was the shirt that bended me to do a rocker look and for pants it was a very easy pick to go leather featuring The Abyss' distressed leather pants - I already had picked up a pair for female and went back to pick up the male. It comes with a black and brown sculpted belt that I'm not wearing here.

I also opted to go with the black slow rider boots by The Abyss. What is also nice is that one of the options includes the lower part of the leather pants attached to the lower part of the boot for easy wearing. The other bonus, since I'm not in guy form often, I don't tend to have a huge selection of guy shoes, so I am fortunate that The Abyss offers a wide variety of items to purchase.

The rings & nails have had my attention for awhile offered by Rozoregalia. I have wanted the shorter nail offered for female sizes but am happy I got to get it for this male look. Very unique selection of high quality prims. It includes different hand size options as well as different combinations of rings. The necklace also has different ways of wearing it - you can check out the store for more details.

As far as skin goes, I wasn't sure what I wanted to feature but decided to go with Belleza's Shawn. I do my best to keep my blogging and photography business separate, but hell, Belleza does an excellent job with skins so I pulled out the skin that I used to do the ad work with. If somebody asks me where to get good male skins Belleza is always one of the first out of my mouth. This is also what determined that I went with the midnight hair in the end since so much of my look is dependant upon the hair base that comes with the skin.

Now the eyes - they're from The Abyss' Dave Gears skin set. Nuff said - I use them often.

Poses - this is one of my favorite male pose sets that Diesel Works have offered. You're seeing pose 1 out of 12 from the Enzo set. You can try out the rest at the store.

So there's my male rocker look!

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Pretty in Plaid

Considering that I wanted to post this last night and haven't gotten around to it until now due to a lovely headache...I really love the simplicity of this look and how easy it was to pull together.

The inspiration flows in with the newest release by Artilleri. And yes, I realize this first image does nothing to show it off, so if you're reading this on the feed I highly recommend you click through to see my other image. If you're a reader - you're in luck because I've rambled on more than usual too!

I absolutely adore the Zara skirt by Artilleri - so much so, I picked up the fatpack. It comes in 4 shades - blues, brown/blue, greens, and plum. I went with this brown/blue shade mix, because first I love the two colors together. Secondly, the perfect blue shade pops out of the texture.

What I also loved is that it matched so well with the Myrina jewelry I recently picked up from Sigma at the, recently concluded, jewelry fair. When it comes to jewelry pieces in general I appreciate creators that tend to go for things asides from gems and metals like this set does with the use of beads. One of my favorite RL jewelry pieces that I own is wooden beads that is from the 70s. Time to see more jewelry makers think out of the box a bit when it comes to inspirational materials. Sigma is one jewelry creator that has done so.

Whippet and Buck aka W&B has been releasing a lot of goodies which I have been eager to blog. I jumped at the opportunity and was very happy they had this Boatneck top in a perfect shade of cream to fit with the look. It was nice to have such a selection of colors to choose from to find the right match - not always an easy task when it comes to mixing looks! I hope to blog more W&B soon!

When it comes to shoes, I'm pretty picky about shoe designs as honestly - I'm barefoot a lot in RL and in SL. But when it comes to styling a look, I always try not to reuse anything I've worn in a blog before. Luckily for me, Kalinis had some new heels out called Flirt - and yay for scripted color options! I turned these shoes brown. I would like to see a few more nail shades but you can't beat having 1 pair of shoes that allows for color change without having to pay a lot of linden to do so.

As far as hair was concerned, like many I had to opt for the new release by 69. Many are most likely going to blog about Jessica 02 rather than 01. I'm typically one for bangs but really liked how the hair was bobby pinned back to really show off the face. I also felt this style suited the look I wanted to pull off. I saw recently a plurk that wasn't happy about the blonde texture that 69 offers, but I remember the first textures 69 had and they're much improved compared to how all the textures were. I could only buy the hair in a dark brown originally - so I'm really not complaining with what is offered today. There is always room for improvement, but I personally don't have a major issue with the blonde texture - esp when you consider my other recent post, "from russia with love."

When it came to the skin - I could have gone with a lot of choices as I tend to be much more of a skin buyer than I used to be...so it says a lot when I repeat the use of a skin maker. Pink Fuel is one of the skins that I am probably the most in love with lately - I'm not sure if it is because the skin fits so well on my standard Zoe shape, or if it is the quality of the skin overall that brings me back to it, or the make-up choices offered - but I truly adore Pink Fuel. I'm very anxious to see the newest skin release but I'm not one to knock on a designer's door and say - ENOUGH I CAN'T WAIT ANY LONGER - because the best takes time. Mochi Milena has a ton of talent with Photoshop and be sure as soon as I see any word about release, I'll be all over it!

Eyes - I went with some from The Abyss - because it was also what I used when I created the pictures for Belleza's newest male skins. Apparently people have been asking - so this is kinda my way to put that out there (if you're still reading this that is) while showing off another set called Jewels from one of their female skins (sold separately). I can't stress how important it is to have quality eyes in Second Life. I will not blog eyes that don't meet my personal approval. I do try to keep my eyes open for eye makers - so if you're an eye creator and want my honest opinion, feel free to send some my way. Be ready for constructive criticism!

So that's my style ramble for the night - happy to be headache free even if it is extremely past my bedtime by this point!

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Porcelain

There is a chill in the air as haunting times are starting around the grid for Halloween. Time for dressing up and having fun. Evie's Closet is perfect for finding a good assortment of costumes. The fable dress that I'm featuring is one of the newest releases to be found at her store. It was also one of the stores that I regrettably did not have a part of my fantasy blog week awhile back and I hope that showing off this wonderful gown makes up for it!

The felt that the dress was well suited for some elegant haunts of the vampire kind. I have wanted to do a picture using Pink Fuels' Bloodthirty skin since I picked it up. I'm not sure if it is currently out at Pink Fuel's main store, but I'm sure it will be there soon enough.

The hair called, La Petite Mort, is new from Shag for the Stumblebum event this weekend. The hat has two color options as well as the netting. The pack comes in 4 shades - red, blonde, black, and brown. If you're new to Shag I recommend going to check out the store. The first time I came across shag, I loved the vendor ads but felt the hair was best for one angle. They have improved since I have visited more recently in the year. I would like them to refine the hair textures a bit, but feel like they're definitely somebody to watch. It is nice that they haven't forgotten about the men of Second Life. I hope to do a male blog post soon showing off one of my faves from their hair fair collection.

The jewelry I choose is a brand new piece by Alienbear called Pandora. She created the piece to go with a gown from Nicky Ree which I believe should be out soon if not already out. I'm always amazed at the detail that Alienbear adds to her creations as well as pure creativity behind them.

The pose is by !Bang (second picture) - if you haven't checked out the store, I really like the couples poses and individual poses that are offered. The creator is not new to SL but new to selling poses and I wish her much success!

Last the eyes, which are a typical staple for me from Exodi - nuff said.

The leaves in Canada have changed and Thanksgiving is over once again for the year. Crazy how quick the year tends to pass. It is the start of those days were all I wanna do is cozy up at home under a blanket but warm enough in the afternoons to take off the coat.

This look was inspired by the cozy warm fuzzy of fall with the new unisex cardigan released by Reek. Available in a wide range of colors the cardigan is easy to fit and comes with two sculpted sleeve options as well as narrow or wide waist for different shapes.

Going for multiple layers I matched up the cardigan with sweater vest and buttoned up shirt from League's teacher's pet set. League is full of top notch clothing creations.

To keep the look flexible I went with the unisex shortpants from Blitzed that I recently featured in a previous post here. I enjoy the flexibility when items are unisex. I also believe that just because something is made for one sex versus another, doesn't always rule it out in fashion.

The booties are a new from Gos which is doing a limited sale via the marketplace for 100L (in color shown) - good time to pick up a pair that comes in 3 available colors.

The skin is LAQ's latest Nellie. Which is probably my favorite of her newest skin releases. I went with the first shade of make-up in the pack because of the simplistic fall feel. I have also featured this skin in a portrait photo seen in a portrait pic I did a few weeks ago (seen right).

In this blog, however, I matched up the look with SLink's Genevif hair that I picked up during the hair fair. I love the realistic shine and the thin flyaway strands. I hope to see more hair creations to come.

The final piece and not new to my blog, the Zbilja eyes by Exodi provide the right amount of shine, color, and depth to the realistic look.

And last but not least - I need to give a shout out to my friend, Mainit Hellman. He's been building furniture and other house styled items at his shop called Baustein. I'm featuring one of his newest furniture releases and my fave item of his so far. He has taught himself how to create sculpties and I look forward to seeing more of his work in the future.

Hair Fair 2010 - Demo Group

You can smell the new prims in the air...okay maybe not but there certainly is a lot of newness that has been building in anticipation at this year's Hair Fair.

This morning I myself couldn't miss going in to get a little bit of a peek before work and now that I'm home I really wish I could have times for a few laps around the sims before sleep overcomes me. I doubt that's going to happen - but as for now I do encourage you all to join the Hair Fair DEMO Group - (look it up in search) this will certainly cut down on lag of roaming if you have an idea in mind already to what you want to go for.

Designers weren't allowed to put out demos until today and there has been a slew full! Yes, my messages capped - but the best thing is that it is a linden group and you can retrieve the demos from notices.

As far as my blogging - I do hope to give a fair representation of hairstyles that are available from a variety of stores. There are many people blogging - so I highly encourage you to check the feeds regularly to perhaps catch a glimpse of styles you might have missed.

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Locker Room

I like to check out the other gender every once in awhile and do a blog about it. The main reason for this post is due to the latest release by The Abyss called 2043. The skin is extremely realistic and causes me to be in awe. I typically like to wear any Abyss skin with their shapes because they fit together effortlessly. And I'm not about to go around tweaking guys shapes because they typically frustrate me by lack of certain arm and leg sliders available in SL. The skin comes in 4 main shades but is tintable through the SL slider system. I also stuck with one of the pairs of eyes from the tone 2 in the series called panther. I'm also wearing a shader (which is included) that helps give a more realistic flair in SL without photo editing.

I decided to go a bit sporty after picking up Emery's Wix sport jacket which comes in other neon stripe shades or basics like black and white. I paired it up with some greed shorts from Blitzed which I found by accident while visiting another sim. Love it when that happens!

The flip-flops were a toss up between two new pairs of sandals by Sey. I decided to go with these due to the color flexibility - as it is hud script controlled for multiple combinations. Sey also includes a wide variety of nail shades along with it. Matching the skin tone also wasn't too much of a hassle and they include a few preselected tones.

Hair is a new style by Exile called Nathan. One of two new styles for the guys. I know how hard it can be to find good guy hair so hopefully he'll come out with some others soon.

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Betty

In honor of having Mad Men back on the air with season 4 - I'm showing off the two very different sides of Mrs. Betty Draper. The first being a very memorable moment with some neighboring birds. The second hitting more of the glam model side that she fronts when out meeting Don Draper's clientèle.

The inspiration started this morning with the announcement of new 69 hair by Kumii Yoshikawa. The BE style reminded me of Betty's hair and is one of three new releases which is only open to 69-VIPs until August 2nd. I'm happy to say she now includes a resize script for her hairs which I can appreciate as they've never fit on my head without adjustments.

Originally I was going to go for more of her everyday looks, but my husband brought up the time she had with the BB gun and thus this look was born. I headed straight to Artilleri to pick up the Wilma dress in yellow that reflects the time period extremely well with the button down styled top which you will see Betty wear numerous times on the show.

I wanted to find some yellow shoes to match, but as usual - color isn't always easy store to store so I picked up the Tuli pumps in steel and choose the golden bow texture from the menu option to match it with shades of the dress pattern. Shiny Things hasn't been producing a lot of shoes lately but it still definitely has the quality you expect from shoe makers of today.

The cigarette from FNKY is an oldie but a goody. The smoke is scripted to be turned on or off by touch and comes with a variety of other in-hand, mouth, or on land options. The shotgun was a freebie that I found on xstreet by Cisco Lane that is originally huge as it is supposed to be for Tank Girl - but I scaled it down to fit the image of Betty.

As far as marriage bling, I choose one of the best looking diamond rings I have seen in a modern style by Yabusaka. I stuck with the League's Taylor skin in blonde but in a new make-up called Angel - seemed fitting! I really like it on my shape and find it harder to switch it up. My other faves made it back are the LeLutka Reflection eyes in glory and Silhouette lashes in Au Natural (I wear these in both looks).

For the more dressy Draper, I was actually going to try to not shop at Icing, because that felt too easy - but after shopping in another store I decided enough and pulled out another fave from Icing called, Evening at the Opera. I paired it up with another of Icing's creations of the glam stole that includes an AO as well as 2 ways of wearing it - wraparound (shown) or over the shoulder.

Again, I was hunting for something other than Paper Couture because again, I like to challenge myself - but in the end - I came back to pull out the sparkling sphere set. The closer to neck feature fits Betty's style of not being too flashy - but definitely having a wow factor. It kinda reflects her personality, trying to draw somebody in but rejecting them in the end.

The Shaken by not Stirred hair by Clawtooth is an instant fave - I wanted to go there to see if there was a more reflective style to Betty's hair and when I saw this I knew it would fit well. It probably could pass for a Jane style, but I thought still appropriate for Betty. So a lot of good hits for Tableau sim tonight as both Paper Couture and Clawtooth are located there.

Finishing off the look was Maitreya's Neyya heels in Pearl Leather. The right sheen to blend in with the top of the dress as well as classy enough to pull off with the style.

The pose used in the gun happy Betty style was a custom made by my husband today specifically for the blog. The pose for the Betty glam style is one of Dove's (of LAP aka Long Awkward Pose) 365 poses project. I highly recommend stopping by to check them out if you haven't recently.

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Showgirl

Lately I've been helping my RL/SL hubby with SL photography. We had been visiting pose shops and one of the places we visited was LostAngels Industries. I noticed a new section was up with a few items and tried them out. The first thing I was thinking was, "OMG where the hell were these when I was working at Blacklace?" I contacted Evangeline Cortes to find out more information and requested to blog about it. She was excited that I showed interest and when I stopped by later on the next day we had a good conversation while she showed off the pieces.

The newness is called, Allure Retro' Multiposes Collection by LostAngel (official release today!). I'm not going to give you all the details here because you really should go see for yourself. But there are two groupings of furniture. One is what I'll call the Dressing Room, which I'm showing off the vanity and vanity chair. The other I'm going to refer to as, Music Lounge. Each piece of furniture holds on average 3-5 poses while others hold up to 10. I have enjoyed in the past the series that LostAngels puts out but was really happy to see something that related to what I spent a lot of time doing in SL.

Now for the fashions that this set inspired. I'm not going to go into detail of how I pulled the look together but the overall feel I wanted was vintage lingerie with a showgirl twist - which to me, meant bling with fur!

Thank you for checking out Fantasy Week here on Z...complete over the past 5 days.

I think Second Life is a great opportunity to try out many of the different fashion creations available on the grid. I really challenge yourself to appreciate what our fellow residents have created because our Second Life experiences certainly would not be the same without them!

Chaospire, Graves, Deviance, BareRose, and Solange are awesome stores to check out for fantasy - but there are countless others striving to make their own marks. Even during these 5 days I already thought of other places I wished I had mentioned and hope to give them their own highlights in the future.

To the designers - thank you for creating fashions to write about and display over the past 5 days. I couldn't have done it without your imagination, talent, and time.

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Fantasy Week: Solange

Solange immediately makes me think of some Arabian nights with seductive dancers. The creator, Solange Cerveau, and I share the same rez-day by 1 day. And I do recall making my first silk purchase back in 2006. I can pretty much guarantee that if you're a silk wearer you have at least 1 silk from Solange if not more.

The reason? The imaginative high-quality textures and prim fluidity that is standard in all that Solange creates. Even an experienced Solange shopper can scour the walls and still come across something new - mainly because there is so much to look at. The overall store design brings you back to a castle renaissance atmosphere which I feel properly reflects the time period of her attire (be sure to check out the underground for a fantasy setting).

Though the majority of Solange fashions are for the females, there is a good selection for the males in a multitude of colors. A hint to the guys out there, a gift center is available if you would like to see your lady in silks. If you're looking for a deal, there is a lucky board and bargain basement. And if fantasy isn't your thing, Solange has a good collection of street-wear and lingerie as well as some business-wear, shoes, jewelry, and menswear.

If I scour the walls, I could pull out a few silks that catch my attention. Three of my favorite silk outfits are Goddess, Kadin, and Traction Silk (new & shown left - the gears animate!).

Now I need to find someplace to swirl around in silks for a day or two! You seriously can't go wrong living out a fantasy in silk!

Probably the most decorated and established fantasy (and more) location on the grid has to be BareRose. I can't help but be in awe at the sheer number of high quality costumes and attire that line the walls at BareRose. June Dion is the headmaster and well known name behind this massive establishment.

To my knowledge it has not been confirmed that June Dion is or is not the only designer/creator behind the numerous fashions. To find out, I sent an offline IM to Tori Heart, who is the CEO, Model Coordinator, and Web manager at BareRose. And if you're reading this - I have not had a response by the time I posted (no fault on her part because I didn't think about this till today).

Tori Heart has contacted me in world this evening and when I asked if there was multiple designers, Tori said, " June is our only designer, I run things for her and try to free her up as much as possible so she has time to design. It is a full time job for her. She does amazing work for sure and always tries to make quality in her work." [end of edit]

But this post isn't about rumors or breaking news - it is to showcase fantasy brands. BareRose has been and continues to be a fabulous location to shop for economically priced and cutting edge creations. Every time I go I can find something new that rattles my imagination. I especially enjoy that all colors are included in the pack - the only down side to this is having to sort them all out!

BareRose is also very good to both sexes having a wide collection of both male and female attire as well as unisex. And if fantasy isn't your thing, there are certain a number of outfits to suit any taste. I highly recommend looking closely at all outfits because there is always something that you could mix into another outfit already owned.

Over the years I have created my own collection of BareRose creations. Three of my favorite fantasy styled outfits are Neverland 2049, Over The Rainbow, and White Crow (new & shown left).

Maybe by the time I post this blog there will be even more new or old items to add to my highly creative BareRose collection!

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Fantasy Week: Deviance

Deviance has been around for awhile but is one of the newer fantasy and costume stores that I personally have learnt about on the grid. Surreal LeShelle first caught my eye recreating costumes of some rather famous characters such as Snow White. But I had my first virtual experience when photographing one of her fashions for ROLE Magazine's wedding spread back in May 2009.

Deviance continues to catch my eye with her beautifully made creations that hit the mark with textures and color choices. I can't say that her store reflects the vibrancy of her fashions, but it is easily accessible to her creations as well as the outstanding photography vendor displays. LeShelle reflects her designs mainly on the more modern themes of costumes but has recently released some more items that come from a more fantasy based reflection.

Sorry guys but this store is strictly based for the female roles of Second Life, but I'm sure there won't be much complaining. Deviance has a wide variety of items available for all sorts of costumes, role-play or fantasy experiences. Some of my faves include Dark Elementalist (new), Spring Fairy - Bluebell, and Enchantress (shown left)

And if this fantasy isn't your thing; there is a great set of casual wear including some awesome jeans (I own a pair or two) as well as lingerie and gowns. There are a couple random lucky chairs and a discount section. Deviance is definitely on my, "can't wait see what she does next," list!

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Fantasy Week: Graves

"What's your kink?" is the tagline and perfect description of the fashions found at Graves. The creator, Jackie Graves, definitely knows her way around virtual latex. Be ready to step into a mature sci-fi styled reality when visiting the store oozing out in a blue-green glow.

Graves' universe is made up of a huge variety of leather and latex creations that will get the blood pumping. But pigeonholing the fashions to fetish only will cause one to lose an awesome assortment of creativity. Mainly fashioned in black and white, one can still find a few shades of color in a variety of the outfits.

It takes a few rounds to really appreciate the ingenuity that Graves has placed into her creations. There is a huge selection of women's fashions but she does have a decent selection of men's attire as well. My current 4 faves are G127 Mantis, G200 Executive, G209 Eclipse (new), and G119 Nemesis (shown left). It is difficult to pick only four!

And if this fantasy isn't your thing; there is footwear potential, awesome photography on display. and gift-cards available to give to friends that are. Graves truly is the cornerstone in this market and if you feel like kinking up your look, this is definitely the place to do it!

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Fantasy Week: Chaospire

Chaospire is created by Devyn Grimm and is one of the first high detailed fantasy creations that I found on the grid and is still here today. When arriving at the store the creative details are even apparent in the build iteself.

Chaospire has a small collection in comparison to what you may find at other stores, but the quality of the items has always wowed me. When I spoke to Devyn Grimm years ago, I wondered how he was able to bring in such sharp designs. He did say that he created large then shrunk the textures down to import. Even his oldest creations still contain crisp details are still the top of today's quality.

A lot of Grimm's looks are based on medieval fantasy. Including druids, nymphs, and sorceresses as well as others. Though mainly catered to women he does have a couple outfits for the men. My all-time faves of his include the Woodnymph, Succubus, and Beledinoir (shown left).

And if fantasy isn't your thing, there are also swimsuits, t-shirts (new), and lingerie available. Even if you're just looking for a collection of wings to add to a look - Chaospire is one place you have to visit just to admire the work put into all of the creations.

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Holloway

I am a big fan of Mad Men after catching up with the series on DVD. We're nearing the start of the fourth season and thus I thought it would be fun to bring to life some of the Mad Men fashions to Second Life. Joan Holloway is the inspiration for today's look.

I knew straight away that I could find a dress that is suitable to Joan's curves at Icing. One of my all time fave stores on the grid, Icing has always offered a niche to the vintage style. Ultra feminine is this dress called, Femme en Noir. The pencil style skirt signifies a sensually elegant feminine figure which is accented by the stunning dragonfly pin.

No dress especially back in the 60s era would you be caught without some form of hosiery. I made a trip to pick up a thigh high lace-top stockings set from Blowpop. Seen here in sand.

The LeLutka Saffron pumps in nude are a bit more of a modern twist on the look. I opted to stay away from the typical black and stick with a neutral tone.

Joan isn't the type to over accessorize as she always tends to find the proper balance in her style. I kept the jewelry to a minimum with these earrings from the Antique Pearl Choker Set from Paper Couture.

Also being in the type of job she is she is constantly needing to keep an eye on the time. Thus this look would not be suitable without a proper watch. This watch called Naomi is from YV (by Yvette Vultee) and ties in a classic strap style with bracelet twist. And for future use there is a ton of scripted color options (black and white are sold together and are totally tintable).

Funny how it works out sometimes, but Truth's Zoe - which I have assumed was named after me (and even if not I'll say it is) really ties to how Joan keeps her hair. Maybe he had that in mind when designing it but it really fits well to how she wears it. I do hope that is a reflection of my own type of style - I do adore vintage styles but I know that I'm not alone! Truth certainly has not stopped creating - you can find new styles weekly which is quite an impressive feat on its own, especially if they weren't as good as they really are!!

I also decided to try a new skin brand called Mynerva. I saw Carissa Crimson blogging about it and went to check it out. I was pleased to see the different shades of eyebrows as well as cleavage option included with the skin. I wasn't crazy about all the make-ups but a few did catch my eye which I might go back for later. I really liked the glossy lips, and though typically Joan uses a darker shade - I thought this was still suitable. I did opt for the cleavage version because it didn't overpower the look. I do find that having cleavage options is nice but I also find there are outfits out there where no cleavage is necessary. The set I bought from is in a back room btw. There are also some tattoos for sale as well as elf-style ears.

Other tid-bits - I modded my shape to give a lil more curves to what I consider already curvy shape. The set that I used for background is by Click by Flix Saiman. I also reused LeLutka's Reflection eyes in Glory as she is a blue-eyed lady. One other thing that my hubby was mentioning, was that the actress that plays Joan Holloway, Christina Hendricks is not a natural red-head but a blonde! Huh!

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - City Chic

I've always been a big mix of a city and country - not necessarily the music, but living areas. My last blog post was a bit of country so I decided to switch it up and bring a bit of country to the city.

The Lace Ruffle Skirt in White from Aoharu is the inspiration for this look. The lace ruffles bring in a bit of the fun country flair. It also comes in black and Aoharu certainly has many options of tops that fit with it nicely. But this wouldn't be much of a city chic look if I kept it country.

To pull me out of the country and into the city I paired it with this Short Trench Jacket in Blue by Maitreya for a more city sophisticated look. Maitreya has many color options of this trench, but I fell in love with the blue shade for a nice summer fresh appeal.

To accessorize the look I went with some of my all time fave earrings called Hamptons (by miabella) which are still available at LeLutka. The subtle texture and colors remind me of water washing upon a warm sandy beach.

I also paired up some matching gray Dream Booties and Dream Catcher bag by Fri.day. Originally I was going to pull out some white pieces but matching shades by different makers isn't the most easy option just like in RL trying to match one shade to another either in interior design or fashion. Typically it is fine to do shades of a color but I didn't feel like there was enough contrast between the two to make it a proper accent and thus decided to pull the gray from the trench buttons into the hat, purse, and shoes. I adore the creativity of the shoe design with the strap wrapped around the heal of the Dream Booties. The sculpt work of both items are of high quality.

Probably my favorite hair by Fri.day along with all time faves of SL has to the the Yelena both original and the variant called Yelena 2. Yelena is the style with hat attachment that is scripted to your choice of 24 texture colors! And even if you're not a fan of this style, Fri.day has sooo many style options to choose from as well as great textures in all shades.

A new addition to my blogging is the Pink Fuel skins. I've been aware of her skin making when I helped out with the Skin/Shape Expo of 09. I was happy to give her newer Ember skin series a try and picked out the Maple tone in Pure. There were a few that I will probably go back to pick up. I liked the naturalness of this make-up to fit the look.

Last but not least - I pulled out a return to the Reflections eyes by LeLutka. After photographing Aradia Dielli for last week's LE Look as well as a segment for Too Sexy - her eyes captured me again. I've owned this pair of Glory shade for awhile and will probably come back to use it again. I really like the color, texture, and lighting used.

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Free Flyin'

It's summertime! I decided to put together a couple looks that lead towards or from the beach. Having spent some time across the globe at some beaches you don't always have the perfect weather to get to the beach without some form of cover.

My first look is inspired by Cynful's Kini in Green with yellow polka dots. Cyn has a new collection of bikinis available in different colors and patterns.

I paired it up with a set of Boardshorts from Reek - also available in a wide varity of colors. The boardshorts also come with an option of with or without prim - the prim/sculpted version is shown here are are very well made and easily adjustable.

Adding to the look, some of Reek's slides for easy walking on the rougher terrain before hitting the beach. They have these slides in a variety of colors as well as with or without socks (something I hope to feature in a later look).

LeLutka's highly detailed sculpted bag complete with draped jacket that is scripted to change to your choice of 4 colors. If you haven't checked out the other new accessories by LeLutka, I really highly recommend it - the detail that they put into their pieces are amazing. One feature I do need to mention is the fact that the bag comes with its own animations with hud (AO).

I adore the bangs that comes with this new style called Deanna by Exile. The whisps along the side are the remnants of the messy bun in the back. I do hope he develops more styles with this bang style.

The second look was inspired by Boom's Infinity bikini in Hibiscus Brown. Their are multiple ways to purchase from her huge assortment of bikinis. Their are two top styles halter and string (seen here) as well as a variety of bottom styles. Boom has a HUGE collection of all sorts of colors and prints. The prim count in her store took a hit with her offering of choices.

I paired the bikini up with a pair of shorts from a store that I hadn't heard of before called, Zoobong. Takeshi Kiama who I worked with recently for the LE Look shots this month told me about it. They make things mainly for guys but you will find a few items for the females. I really liked their store build too.

The shoelace sandals are from Surf Co. They also are teamed up with the summer festival going on at Tableau. Lots of cute items are out now for the festival if you haven't been yet.

The cute tote bag is by Tres Blah and says "I'm pretty" and "Neato" if you can't tell by the pic. Perfect for carrying a magazine, sunglasses or the all important sunscreen.

Perfect for the beach or swimming pool is the Secret Garden Keys necklace by Glow Studios. Its the one type of accessory that I always take with me when swimming in RL.

A new release from Reek is the hat with hair combo. This one is called Topeka 1 - other variations are also available. I had to go with Topeka because that also happens to be the name of the city capital of my home state of Kansas. The hat also has a variety of scripted options for textures with the leather braid (pictured with white braid texture) and some beads which can't been seen in this shot, but you can check it out at the store. It also has a necktie option that I did not use with this look.

One of the items that I wore with both looks are the realistic eyes by Miriel which are no longer available unfortunately due to her closing up shop awhile back.

The last item that I wanted to share is the Taylor skin by League. I'm extremely pleased with how it looks on my original shape as well as the overall quality. I adore the freckles especially which I'm happy to show off in this look.

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Bold

I am not going to type on this post as most of the brands I'm wearing I have talked about in previous posts. I will point out that I finally have blogged a bit of MichaMi's creations! I've wanted to for awhile because she really follows her own style and she is one of the bloggers that I used to watch constantly on the feeds before she started her shop and still do today.

The one other thing I need to point out is that the hair/hat by Maitreya is the one from LE Look's give away - I believe that it still is available for free - otherwise you can get the same style in a bit different textured hat at Maitreya.

Interesting how coincidences happen! I had been working on a blog post that would feature bold colors when I decided to send a TP to Di Hoorenbeek for this blog when she showed up in this bright yellow dress along with the new Pow LeLutka shoes - same as me! (you'll see what I was wearing in another post)

Di Hoorenbeek (not to be confused with the SL store) is one of those people that I met through plurk and through our common friend, Aleida. Di has a good calm head on her shoulders and is one of those people I had the right type of vibe with from the get-go. Di not only is a talented model for various agencies on the grid but talented when it comes to the body sliders. She loves it so much that she has her own shapes store called, Di's Shape Creations (slurl). Her shapes are affordable at 400L/shape but you can also request a custom shape for only 2000L. You might also have seen some of her shapes specific to their skins being sold at Dutch Touch (slurl).

Even if you like to be in your own shape most of the time, it really is a great opportunity to use other shapes in order to see beauty differently. It can also give you a leg up if you're interested in becoming a model in Second Life - especially when coming from those that have already been successful. A great way to check out Di's shapes is through her flickr. She has a good eye capturing not only her own avatar but others too!

Rogan Diesel is the owner and creator of Diesel Works Poses and Animations. If you've read my blog before, you most likely have seen a few of his poses. I first met Rogan after he shot me an IM thanking me for my purchase at his store. Honestly, I do get a little weirded out when people do this, but after talking to him for a bit he turned out to be a decent guy. Now we chat as friends when time allows and occasionally I have modeled for his store ads.

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Miami Heat

Ah, its that time of the year to chill out in the night air. Its been awhile since I visited Florida, but I do remember enjoying the late nights where the heat stuck around while the ocean breeze would continue to blow. I wanted to reflect those memories with this fashion style.

Inspiration for this look was the Maitreya Gold Aequus heels. The striking but simple straps make these heels very sexy and elegant. Like other new releases these shoes feature a sculpted zipper in the back of the heel. They also allow the cuff to be color changed to various shades. I would love that the shoes would come scripted as well but know that would cut the earnings significantly - so that means not likely to happen, but I can dream!

I really wanted to do the heels in teal and looked for a top to match. In the process I put on this older fave, tropical teal shirt, from Artilleri. The teal didn't match up enough so I pulled out the brown that fit in with the tones of the skirt instead and put the cuff color to teal instead.

The second inspiration for this look came from Truth's newest release of Peyton hair. I really enjoy the new streaks that allow for some further customization with color change. I went with the brightest red shade of cranberry along with blonde streaks to reflect a more wild Miami nightlife.

The Larin skirt in ash by Zaara was an easy pick for me, it was kind of random pick that I had decided to stick with once putting it on and became another part of the focus for the look.

To finish off the look I didn't want to go heavy on accessories and once I put on Alienbear's Natasja necklace there was nothing that I felt would be better suited. The flowers reflected that in the tropical shirt perfectly.

The rest of the look goes to LeLutka - featuring their latest skin of Lola in the sunkissed tone. The make-up 6 on the eyes are what sold me with the nice shade of pink and brown. I felt like it really hit with the look I wanted. I was going to use one of the 2.0 pink lipstick layers but ended up snapping the pic in an original viewer. 2.0 still tends to be a big buggy for my full-time use. The shape and lashes are from LeLutka's Eclat Oksana. And to finish it all off the eyes are the reflections glory by LeLutka.

One photo note - I did decide to process these images for fun but please note that all items chosen are of high quality otherwise I would not choose to wear them.

A New Twist at Z...complete

Introducing a new segment that I'm calling, "It's More Than Fashion...It's who you are," where we get to know what people are wearing out and about doing their own thing but also a bit about what they do in SL. So much of fashion is personal expression but you can't always tell everything from what they wear.

How does it work?

It is meant to be completely random. No changing anything!! If you get a teleport from me, that's it! I'll have you hop on my pose stand and snap pictures of what you're wearing. I'll ask questions about you and put it here in my blog. If you want to be on the list to participate see details HERE.

My first fashion victim is my old and good friend, Foxy Innis who has been managing Crush Row (closing soon) as well as other interests in modeling and shape making. She also put on the the Skin & Shape Expo in 2009. We got to know each other after RPing out some Western characters in Deadwood right before I started up my photography business full-time. Foxy is a sharp witted and delight to be around if you can handle her blunt honesty. She doesn't put up with bullshit and will tell you how it is.

Foxy Innis & Flix Saiman

My other fashion victim is a brand new friend I got to know today. Flix Saiman is the owner and creator behind the business, Click. He also does custom builds Click offers highly detailed settings for photographers pro or not. Each set has custom poses to fit the setting as well as related props that can personalize the set to the users' delight.

Flix took some time to show Foxy and I some of his creations. I have to say that I was impressed by what I saw. A lot of detail goes into the creations along with custom poses! The more he showed us the more interested I was in his creations. It really gives a lot of what I have done over the past few years for clients - but fast forwarded. Instead of having to build a set and pick out poses it was already done for me - add models and click!

The sets are great if you're looking for a solid start to doing photography as a pro or even if you want to do some fun pictures with friends. Click's most recent creation is a bar scene with 27 singles poses and 9 couples poses.

Click is also currently offering a photography contest with multiple categories (even one without editing!!). The prizes include straight up linden as well as gift certificates to some awesome pose stores and more. Feel free to check out Click's main store (slurl) for details.

I find contests a good way to get known as a photographer around the grid as well as promotion for the businesses involved. So best of luck to all entries.

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Street

I was planing on doing a nice elegant style when I stumbled upon a dress but when I was going around to stores looking for a piece to go with it - everything changed. Sey had some new items out for sale and I couldn't turn it down. Awhile ago I picked up a wrap around sculptie plaid shirt. Now they have these hoodies that are flipped open like you've just unzipped it and it has fallen around the waist. Thus my whole inspiration took flight towards a look to fit with it.

I knew straight away that I wanted to use the Kass Calypto dirty skin by The Abyss. Abyss skins have been a straight away purchase as I always know they're high quality skins - each one being unique. The skin also goes the best with the shapes that they offer - but I wasn't 100% on the body and ended up modifying a copy of my body shape with the Abyss head.

The challenge I had with the hoodie was that it creates a really heavy midsection and it being a jacket I didn't want to bulk up my top half with another jacket cause well that isn't realistic. So I needed to have my bottom half hold up the weight and finding pants that are still stylish without being the "in" legging style wasn't gonna fly. It took awhile but I pulled out a set of pants that I've had for awhile from Bijou. They're from an outfit called Exceed and typically go with a nice tank top layered outfit which could also fit with the look. Instead I choose to go another route because I like to mix it up. One feature that I did like by using these pants was no need for adding socks because it looks like they're already there but it is just part of the pants.

Did I say challenge? Because the footwear also was a bit of one for me as I was kinda thinking about showing off the newest Maitreya Gold pair but knew that I was going in another direction and thus pulled out some boots from Abyss but they weren't fitting the bill. I remembered seeing these League High-Tops when I had been in their store for good pants and went back to pick them up. What is awesome is the all the options that they are scripted with. You can choose from 10 textures for the buttons that are found on the side of the heel. The back of the heel has 5 graphical texture options. There are 2 options for sole color. And to top it all off you can choose any color you want for the laces, shoe sides, toe tip, heel, and lace rings. Other shoe options include size, shine, and glow. I decided to match it up to the hoodie in a nice brown shade for the main sides and laces. The other bonus was they were just the right height that I really needed to pull of the right form.

As for the upper half - originally I had picked out a tank that I have liked for a long time from League but switched it up to this Abyss USA t-shirt. I love the hem on to show off a bit more tummy rather than the standard horizontal. Gives it that edge that I wanted with the look.

I then felt I needed something else, and though I typically try to use my own thoughts ideas for inspiration - the store poster promoting the Sey hoodie used suspenders and thus out I pulled some that I had from League and really liked how it looked.

As far as hair, I went straight to my 69 hair collection and played with two styles picking this one out the Echo style in the end. My hubby said that it reminded him of Kate from Lost - I didn't complain one bit with that comment as I really like her look.

The lashes and eyes are both from Abyss' Opium avatar which includes the shirt as well as more awesome quality items. A bit pricey but worth it for everything it includes.

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Petal

First Life is complicated sometimes. It has been an interesting year to say the least for me and thus it took me away from my Second Life. I tend to revamp what I do in SL to keep it interesting and right now I'm not sure what that is. All I know is that I'm gonna just do what I feel like doing and take it day to day. Blogging is something I like to do so not stopping this anytime soon. I blog what I like and what inspires me in the moment.

This look was inspired by the Tourist Jacket by Fri.day. I have had the red one and with the sale going on now I picked up the brown shade. If I could make sculpties I would want to create this jacket. I love the ruffle detailing. Kind of a mix of military style with a feminine edge.

I needed some hair that was off the shoulder to show the jacket collar off fully and decided to go with the always creative and fresh hair by lamb called Ambrosia. With the hot summer days I would wear my hair up like this if I took the time. It makes me want to sit in front of a fan on the porch down in Louisiana or something.

The rest of the outfit is all Maitreya. I had picked up the girdle, bodysuit, and stockings when I was shopping for an outfit to model in for a friend's store. I'm a loyal and huge fan of Maitreya. Maitreya is modern and high quality. I know word was getting around showing the RL inspiration for these shoes but one thing I have learned is in copyright you can't place that on a shape. However, if that shape has a distinct print - that print could be copyrighted - so big difference if you are photo sourcing versus creating based on shape. My favorite part is the zipper. I admire those that can sculpt such detail (note the theme here with the jacket and now shoes). I do have to make a note here and thank designers that do included all layers in their items - this outfit would not have been possible otherwise.

The skin is the newest release by Redgrave called Zuri. I love the make-up to match in the color of the bodysuit. And I'm gonna go out on a limb a bit and speak more of copyright - I'm not a huge fan of photo sourcing if one does not have permission to do so. I'm not slandering Redgrave because a lot of people photo source using proper sources and I don't have any facts to be a judge of their process without having talked to the creators. So no torch lighting here, I did buy the skin didn't I? I do hope that all are reputable when using photo sources. I will have to give admiration to Redgrave for I feel like they changed the way of creating and selling skins in Second Life.

Finally the eyes are by The Abyss. They sell with one of their male skins called Dave Gears but heck eyes are eyes and aren't gender specific last I looked. I liked the soft hue that they create with the overall look.
