A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar in Retro Betty

08-26-12Betty2

I thought I would have some fun and put a twist on the blog a bit by using an animated gif style.  I picked up this Marina dress awhile back from Kunglers, simple but retro feel to it with the color block style.  It is a mesh dress - and I believe most people are using mesh viewers, but I'll keep putting that disclaimer in just in case.

The newest heels that I'm sporting from Celoe are also mesh.  If you're like me - it is not always easy to color match from looking at a box - it would be nice if we could have some sort of color previewer.  It would be nice if more designers could offer some sort of preview other than the demo as to what exact shade the item is.  I find that teal can be on the greener side or the bluer side to different people.  I hate it when I end up spending a fortune to only find that the shade wouldn't work with an outfit.  It is fine to have a blend, but sometimes I really just want something to match perfectly.

The cute hair, coincidentally also named Marina, by Truth is pretty new too.  I thought it was pretty cute - reminds me a bit of the Thelma from Scooby-Doo.  The bow is scripted with a good selection of colors.

The skin is Betty by Belleza, featured at the vintage fair - which if you haven't been - you need to go at least once!  I am wearing the pale tone in make-up 5.  As always, Tricky has a ton of make-up to choose from, so have fun getting creative!

And to anchor in the look, I pulled out some Twisted Bracelets by Erratic.  It is scripted colors.  Again, not matchy matchy with the purple, but this look is much more about tonal purple than matchy matchy so I wasn't gonna push it.

I also noticed that this is my 201st blog post.  I'm not one of the blog every day type of people, especially when I'm working full time, but it's pretty cool still to think about it.  I originally got into blogging when I started to model with FACES agency waaay back when.  When the blog shut down I decided to do it for my personal fun and still enjoy it!  Hopefully you like it too!

Enjoy!

Love, Zoe

Zoe's Quick Pick - Pink Ladies

Again I find myself in an array of too much awesome stuff on the grid to have the time to blog it all without making it a full time job!

Here is a quick highlight from the Vintage Fair.  It took me awhile to go through all the sims because there was sooo much stuff - but this I just had to blog about first!

08-05-12_Greese

I saw the Pink Ladies Jacket by House of {TORN} and HAD to have it!  The jacket also comes in black with pink lettering.  This is not sold as an outfit but two pieces...the jacket is one and the Sandy bodysuit is another - which also comes in black (shown) or pink.  The hair from Wasabi Pills (also from the Vintage Fair) worked out PERFECTLY to show off the back nicely!!

There are 3 sims to check out, and if you start and one end, it will lead you through until you get to the other end - which makes it easier to stay on track - but there is a lot to check out, so you might want to come back for multiple visits if you don't have a lot of time.

In the main map, do a search for the sim named Retro or Classic as these are the two ends.  The CHIC sim is the middle portion. (here's a quick slurl to a good starting point on Retro sim - SLURL)

Enjoy!

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Rumour Has It

07-14-12Rumour

Lots and lots of stuff going on right now...hair fair, collabor88, one voice...

I don't tend to blog about events or even the newest thing out there but rather just take my time and do a mix up of things that I like that maybe you'll like too.  But sometimes when I have the time, it all comes together.  That's what happened with this look.

The shorts were dropped on me by Toki-Doki's creator, Maya Levane.  I wasn't familiar with Maya's work, but that doesn't stop me from checking her creations out.  Mind you, I only blog what I like - given or not.  I fell in love with these shorts.  The colors and the pattern isn't something I have seen on the market, so that became my base.  They are mesh, and come in the standard sizing.

I needed a top to go with it.  I've been in a yellow and brown buying spree lately and when I saw this mesh top by Whippet & Buck at Collabor88 - I knew that it would work perfectly!  It took some sizing play...I had to make sure that the top would fit over the shorts without having peek through problems but was able to make it happen in the end with the right mix of a larger top and smaller shorts.

I decided to go with using Linnea skin from LAQ.  I went for the natural look even though I had a few options to go with.  I tend to not guzzy up much in RL and like my SL to reflect that.  I hope to do another blog using her Elena skin that Mallory has out at Gala's fundraiser event of One Voice.

For the hair...I just had to have the latest Truth hair, Aurora.  There's just something about it that called my name when I saw it.  I love how much he has grown in his craft over the years and am amazed how many hairs he tends to crank out on a regular basis.  That is not an easy task!  BY THE WAY - if you already have this hair and the HUD doesn't work - check out truth-hawks.com.  He's posted a fix to this.  Fortunately for me, my hud worked fine.

For eyes, I kept my old standard from Insufferable Dastard.  I am always eye hunting but sometimes I get lazy and just go with quality that works.

I think that's about it!  I do hope to have more time to show off some of the other items that I've picked up recently!

Enjoy!

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Gala

Gala

Featuring mix of old and new along with a bit of my own 2 cents.

2 Cents:  I decided to pull out one of my older Gala Phoenix skins from Curio.  Gala's skins were one of the first and best skins that I wore when I first arrived into Second Life back in 2006.  I've been a big supporter and fan of Gala/Curio skins ever since.  I might not wear them on a daily basis, but the variety of vivid make-ups have always had me going back to check out her work.  There is a One Voice Fundraiser that will start at midnight tonight and continue until July 16th.  Here is the SLURL.

Newness of this look comes from the latest release from Elikatira in this high pony tail with a layered bang - good for retro or modern.  The other new item is the skirt from The Secret Store (see Maylee's picture below of all the options).  I didn't end up wearing the belt for my look, but you can see them with the skirts below.  Both of these items are mesh - so make sure you demo them in a mesh viewer.

Lady Swing Skirt - Prints

The not as new item is the Celoe pumps in violet which I liked with this look to give the unexpected color blocking pop to the look.  The top from the always groovy Artilleri might not be available anymore when I was browsing her marketplace store - but Artilleri is always worth a look!

Enjoy!

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Pretty Pink (part 2)

Pretty Pink (Part2)

I decided to take one more pic before I go to bed and due to the fact it is getting late...I'm going to let the pic speak for itself!
