A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Locker Room

Blogged: Locker Room I like to check out the other gender every once in awhile and do a blog about it.  The main reason for this post is due to the latest release by The Abyss called 2043.  The skin is extremely realistic and causes me to be in awe.  I typically like to wear any Abyss skin with their shapes because they fit together effortlessly.  And I'm not about to go around tweaking guys shapes because they typically frustrate me by lack of certain arm and leg sliders available in SL.  The skin comes in 4 main shades but is tintable through the SL slider system.  I also stuck with one of the pairs of eyes from the tone 2 in the series called panther. I'm also wearing a shader (which is included) that helps give a more realistic flair in SL without photo editing.

I decided to go a bit sporty after picking up Emery's Wix sport jacket which comes in other neon stripe shades or basics like black and white.  I paired it up with some greed shorts from Blitzed which I found by accident while visiting another sim.  Love it when that happens!

The flip-flops were a toss up between two new pairs of sandals by Sey.  I decided to go with these due to the color flexibility - as it is hud script controlled for multiple combinations.  Sey also includes a wide variety of nail shades along with it.  Matching the skin tone also wasn't too much of a hassle and they include a few preselected tones.

Hair is a new style by Exile called Nathan.  One of two new styles for the guys.  I know how hard it can be to find good guy hair so hopefully he'll come out with some others soon.

Enjoy!

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Street

I was planing on doing a nice elegant style when I stumbled upon a dress but when I was going around to stores looking for a piece to go with it - everything changed. Sey had some new items out for sale and I couldn't turn it down. Awhile ago I picked up a wrap around sculptie plaid shirt. Now they have these hoodies that are flipped open like you've just unzipped it and it has fallen around the waist. Thus my whole inspiration took flight towards a look to fit with it.

Blogged: Street

I knew straight away that I wanted to use the Kass Calypto dirty skin by The Abyss. Abyss skins have been a straight away purchase as I always know they're high quality skins - each one being unique. The skin also goes the best with the shapes that they offer - but I wasn't 100% on the body and ended up modifying a copy of my body shape with the Abyss head.

The challenge I had with the hoodie was that it creates a really heavy midsection and it being a jacket I didn't want to bulk up my top half with another jacket cause well that isn't realistic. So I needed to have my bottom half hold up the weight and finding pants that are still stylish without being the "in" legging style wasn't gonna fly. It took awhile but I pulled out a set of pants that I've had for awhile from Bijou. They're from an outfit called Exceed and typically go with a nice tank top layered outfit which could also fit with the look. Instead I choose to go another route because I like to mix it up. One feature that I did like by using these pants was no need for adding socks because it looks like they're already there but it is just part of the pants.

Did I say challenge? Because the footwear also was a bit of one for me as I was kinda thinking about showing off the newest Maitreya Gold pair but knew that I was going in another direction and thus pulled out some boots from Abyss but they weren't fitting the bill. I remembered seeing these League High-Tops when I had been in their store for good pants and went back to pick them up. What is awesome is the all the options that they are scripted with. You can choose from 10 textures for the buttons that are found on the side of the heel. The back of the heel has 5 graphical texture options. There are 2 options for sole color. And to top it all off you can choose any color you want for the laces, shoe sides, toe tip, heel, and lace rings. Other shoe options include size, shine, and glow. I decided to match it up to the hoodie in a nice brown shade for the main sides and laces. The other bonus was they were just the right height that I really needed to pull of the right form.

As for the upper half - originally I had picked out a tank that I have liked for a long time from League but switched it up to this Abyss USA t-shirt. I love the hem on to show off a bit more tummy rather than the standard horizontal. Gives it that edge that I wanted with the look.

I then felt I needed something else, and though I typically try to use my own thoughts ideas for inspiration - the store poster promoting the Sey hoodie used suspenders and thus out I pulled some that I had from League and really liked how it looked.

As far as hair, I went straight to my 69 hair collection and played with two styles picking this one out the Echo style in the end. My hubby said that it reminded him of Kate from Lost - I didn't complain one bit with that comment as I really like her look.

The lashes and eyes are both from Abyss' Opium avatar which includes the shirt as well as more awesome quality items. A bit pricey but worth it for everything it includes.

Feel free to comment to provide feedback or if you like the look. Comments are moderated to avoid auto-bot spamming but all comments are approved if from a real person.

Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar in Spring Punk

I could have sworn it was spring until it started to snow today! Sometimes that is exactly what happens. Luckily in Second Life I can pretty much start any season whenever I feel like it, at least in fashion.

Spring Punk

Today came with some new Fri.day releases - mainly in hair which I can't help but say I'm happy about. One of the newest styles, called Scarlett, includes one which was the initial inspiration with the pyramid studs in the headband. It is very reminiscent of Scarlett Johansson, which is someone that I wanted to hit the style of with this look. Though typically Scarlett is dressed up in glam styles, she also has a bit of the punk/rock side to her which I wanted to reflect here.

I went with the yellow paradiso romper also by Fri.day because it isn't something usually seen and really pops in crowds. It also reflects sunny days which I tend to think of with spring. Fri.day team did a very good job on the textures, even the prims do a really good job of blending though because I don't edit my pictures to fit with poses when I blog, shows up a bit here. So don't let that hold you back if you're interested in making a purchase. Fri.day is excellent with seams, something that not everyone takes time with.

To bring in more of a dark edge I pulled out the my reliable standard of Maiiki black leggings which has amazing textures. And even if I have a hard time writing out the name, you can find the items still at Maitreya's main sim location.

The shoes for this look were an easy hit, bringing in the studs with these Digit Darkes Desire Heels. Originally I wasn't too fond of the textures that Digit had with her feet, but she has improved these a great deal, these shoes included.

I've been wanting to blog this necklace for awhile that I picked up from SEY. Something a bit more gothic than what I typically can be seen strolling around in but happy to find it a home with this look. I love the little details of the script on the skull as well as a diamond in one eye. I also really like having the length of y-shape chain especially when revealing so much skin around the neck, allowing me to get away with more.

Next was easy, adding a tattoo, but I did still decide to pick out one that is rock based from Garden of Ku. They have a huge selection of tattoos that I highly recommend checking out. I've had a few from there that I have yet to blog, but am happy again that today I got one out of my inventory.

The skin was a given, I knew I had to use Tuli's Eva skin once again as I've been a looong time fan of her work. She really continues to strive forward. Even recently her Hope skin line has become my default go-to look for Zoe. Something that I don't do on a whim. Eva I hope will become another one of my standards. I really liked pulling out a red lip make-up knowing how often Scarlett does the same. Red to me isn't something that anyone can pull off but if you're gonna be daring, it has gotta be red!

The lashes are a bit over the top, but that's what I love - why not push the limits a bit. I think it gives a great leap to the edge which is perfect for doing close-up shots for magazine covers or photo shoots. Mayden Couture has a good variety of lashes that I have had fun playing with.

The eyes are one of my all time faves by MADesigns. I always tend to come back to them because of the soft calm feeling that they reflect. These are a must-have set in my inventory! And though I find some eyes to be a bit pricey, I do believe these are worth their weight.

Last but not least, I had this outfit all put together but once in the pose it didn't feel...complete. In art there is a rule of threes...and in fashion there is the rule of once you put everything on, take one item off. Well, in this circumstance the three plus leaving an item on ruled for me. I really wanted one more stud item to complete the package. It would be easy to either replace the belt with a studded belt, or the necklace. I even bought a necklace to see but it didn't hit the right vibe for me. And as far as belts go, I have one I could have easily pulled out by Refuge but wanted to keep the Fri.day outfit in tact and to also keep a bit of the glam to the look. Thus it was bangle or else. I hit up Refuge first, knowing that I had the belt from them but ended up finding it at SiniStyle which is located near to Refuge. So I have my artistic triad without sacrificing the other items that I wanted to showcase.

Enjoy!

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Nico

Ever play Grand Theft Auto IV? If not, no worries - I just felt like this look kinda turned out how I would picture an SL version of Nico (main character from GTA IV) to look...maybe minus the guitar bag. I'm not going to do a long description and instead will allow the picture to do the talking. This is my alter ego in my inventory that I like to call "Joe" he is handy when I need to do photography.

Nico

A little bit of style by Zoe Demar in Casual Layers

I keep hearing about people trying to get into the hair fair. I have been pretty lucky about my timing and did make my rounds but for those of you that might still need to wait a few more I encourage you to hit up some of your old haunts.

Instead of using one of the new hairs at the fair I decided to mix it up with another hair fave place of mine, Zero Style. When I stopped by the store I saw a couple of new hairs including the one that inspired the following casual layered look.

Layers of Casual

The inspiration - the lovely long layers of Zero Style's Camille in Dark Chocolate. I think I've been more into bangs recently, but really enjoy how Zero Style utilizes flexi which increases the amount of play you can have when wandering the grid or taking a fun snapshot.

I knew that for the next item I wanted to pull something from Leah's store, Naive. She's not new new to the fashion world. I first got to know her through her photography. Though she still is taking pics, she has turned her creativity to virtual fashion and has a good selection of a mix of styles for both the guys and the gals. I really liked the textured in the jeans along with the length of the capri, perfect for a casual summer day.

I knew I wanted to keep the overall look simple and searched a bit through my clothing collection and found this gray t-shirt from Cyanide. Another new to the scene designer known more for her poses has made a stamp by releasing quite a collection of sexy tops in numerous amounts of transparency and colors.

The Ayumi waistcoat that I'm calling a vest here for easy communication was an easy choice to add another element to jazz up the look a bit and add some unexpected color. The red pulls out a bit from the shoes, hoodie, and lunchbox ensemble. I personally don't have a lot of experience with Ayumi but the quality of the vest does make me want to go check it out for more.

With the top taken care of, I knew I wanted to throw in a new style of whimsy that has been used in Second Life with the creation of sculpties. You might see the a more well known and similar style at Coco's, but this wrap around hoodie creation has been in my inventory long before from Sey. The designer, risey Arai, is Japanese. I discovered it randomly when I was exploring. Its a scripted piece that has 9 different colored checkered textures - great for mixing up your looks. I haven't been back to the store for awhile but putting this together - be sure I will be stopping back soon. If I remember right they also do hair. And I'm also going to do something a little nontraditional of my blog posts and will link to their blog HERE because I know they might be harder to find.

At this point I felt pretty good about the look and it was an easy choice to pull these Hoorenbeek shoes called Samoa from my inventory. I'm amazed at the amount of detail one can get from sculpts AND textures - especially in the "shoe" designer department. The amount of realism fathoms me. Though I might be a little off-put about the close tie of using the "real life" logos, he is changing it up enough to avoid infringement to my knowledge. a side-note: I'm fascinated by copyrights - and am always learning.

Another old piece in my inventory - is this cute lunchbox from Miau Haus. Creative humor in creations goes a LONG way with me. I couldn't resist having a chick stuffed between slices of bread - perfect for any neko's lunch.

The eyes in Predawn were a very easy choice for me from Miriel - and I recommend you head to her store soon as she will be closing up shop any day now. I was saddened to hear the news, but it has to be expected with people or items in SL as things change and people move to different roads. I do wish her luck and hope that you do have the opportunity to pick up a few items from her jewelry, hair, shapes, and eyes.

Layers of Casual - Close up

Now I needed to choose a skin, and so I wanted to go with something very new to the grid. The designer isn't new but the skins are as they're to be released TODAY! Annyka Bekkers of Blowpop has some mad skills. What I like about her new skins is that each "line" has their own personality. I chose her Elizabeth skin due to the freckle love. And though you'll see this skin has reddish eyebrows I like mixing it up with darker hair. I probably would choose another to do a close-up with but I don't like limiting skin with my various chair colors and styles.

Last but not least is the icing on the cake. I'm not sure who brought in the idea of prim lashes first to SL. I think the first place I saw them was from Celestial Studios, but my has it evolved to be a must have for many in SL. I know for my modeling and photography it is a must have as it really helps make the eyes pop. I've picked up a good selection of lashes from here and there but when Carissa Crimson decided to put her out I was very curious to see what would come from it. I must say that I've really fallen in love with the au natural lash style that she released. She does have other styles as well that you should check out and see what your fave style fits your personality as I don't think you'll be disappointed.

PS - POSE BY TORRIDWEAR :)

That wraps up the layers of casual style. I hope you enjoy and can add some new places to your repertoire of fashion.
