Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar in Black Rock

I've been wanting to do something a bit more wild - which I know I could be more but I think having ripped fishnet stockings and some chunky heeled boots is about where I wanted to go with this look. I try to keep things sexy but with a more glam side to it than all out dirrrty.

Black Rock close-up

The main inspiration is the black mini-skirt by Kyoot. I like fashion items that choose something classic like a mini-skirt, then twist it up a bit to make it new. The cut in the front along with the textures makes it a bit more unique and harder to style a top with.

It took me a little bit of time to find something that I really liked with it - I'm sure there are many items that can work but I really liked how the top from Celestial Studios Aphrodixia top pulled together. It isn't pictured here but I thought the back worked out nicely too.

The biker boots by Redgrave was an easy choice for me to use and paired up with the seamed fishnet stockings by Blowpop really hit the mark. I love that Blowpop includes both a torn version and normal version of the stockings to really change the style one might go for depending upon the outfit of choice.

After having the majority of the outfit pulled together, I thought it felt a bit too light on top. I knew I had been wanting to blog something from Aoharu for awhile and decided to pull out the short jean jacket that I bought a little while ago. Paired with the mini-skirt, I really like how the mini-jacket balances the overall look and adds some dimension.

To accessorize, I kept it light but adding a matching bracelet and necklace from Aluinn. I have been a fan of the Y-necklace style and consider it a classic look. I really like the medallion design that Bratty of Aluinn used in these pieces.

As far as skin, it was easy to go with the newest skin from LeLutka's Eclat line. I really wasn't too fond of the lighter skins eyebrows but had seen the darker skins in the ads that caught my eye. I didn't pick up a fatpack but rather just one in a more dramatic eye make-up.

The eyes I picked up from Tres Blah - along with one of her new skins which I hope to blog about with another look.

To top of an finish the look, I decided to go with the Single Lady hairstyle by Exile. I couldn't decide between the black or brown shades so picked up both but choose to stick with mink for the highlights. I do however wish he would change up his textures a little bit but that's just a personal opinion. I especially like this hair using a hair base which is an included option with the LeLutka skin.

A little bit of style by Zoe Demar - Products Named Zoe

It isn't every day you have something named after you OR have a product that happens to have your name by chance by one of your fave stores.

Leah McCullough in Plurk had peeps sign up their name if they wanted her to use it when naming products for her Naive store and so I put my name in there and it was my turn on the list for one of her designs. It turned into being a very pretty feminine floral dress. But even cooler she did a collaborative effort with Mouse Mimistrobell of Dark Mouse to create matching jewelry. The cake topper was that Maitreya released new hair and one of them is named Zoe. This gave me the idea to blog stuff that had the name Zoe in it - or close to it.

Items Named "Zoe" Style

To start - the inspiration is the very pretty Zoe floral dress by Naive shown in two colors. Blue on the left and Green top on the right.

Hair was the other inspiration with the brand new release of Zoe by Maitreya in Ash Blond.

One of my earliest skins are by Naughty Designs but I didn't own any of the Zoe skin line till yesterday. I picked out the Matte Pink lips skin in light. I still tend to go back to wearing Naughty skin as an old standard as it tends to fit my shape pretty well.

The matching Zoe jewelry by Mouse Mimistrobell of Dark Mouse. I decided to mix up the metals like she does in the bangles from the set. The pendants/gems of the earrings and necklace are color change by touch, so I mixed that up too with green and blue.

The jacket and pants (on the right) are pulled from the Zoe outfit from Icing. Miko named it after me when I won a photography contest back in 2007. That was a really cool part of the prize.
Icing-Zoe

I did find some shoes named Zoe on Xstreetsl, but the Avanti Flats from Celestial Studios were too cute to pass up for the style. I picked them up awhile ago in a couple of color packs.

And last but not least, I ended up not even looking for eyes with my name but at least it has a, "Z" in the name. They are the Zbilja eyes in Green by Exodi that I also blogged with last time.

Items Named "Zoe" - Close up

I would love to see other bloggers do this to see what they have out there in their name. Also if you are a designer with a product named, "Zoe" let me know - curious to see what all is out there!

Thanks for reading!

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar

I want to start by announcing that it is now officially the start of my THIRD year in Second Life!

My husband pointed out how much can change in three years and he is absolutely right! Though a lot has also stayed the same. I won't bore you with my story here.

I'm not doing a special blog or anything - just doing more of the same. I've been taking a little bit of an SL break over the holiday. Now that I have been back I have been wanting to get something blogged. The Superbowl was something I could do quick and easy. I do put a lot of time into my styling and graphics more than my text because I personally am a visual learner. I did however make a little more effort with this post. Typically, I like pictures that speak for themselves. If you want my opinion, I invite you to IM me in-world.

To make-up for being away I have two drastically different outfits.

First up - GRUNGE

02-04-09-Zoe-Grunge-Close

02-04-09-Zoe-Grunge

The inspiration came first from the wide pants from Barerose. The pants are pulled from the outfit, "Lowrise Heavy Cargo," and is typically teamed up with a tank top variety of shirts. As with all things Barerose, you get a WIDE range of color variety for a fraction of the cost of what the majority are selling one piece of virtual fashion piece.

While at Barerose I purchased quite a few things. One of them included the, "Rolled Up Type B," which does come in a multitude of colors and also a cute heart tank, not pictured here. Instead I replaced the tank with one of my all time favorite Blacklace lingerie pieces called, "Tease," in blue floral. I'm also being a bit of a tease because it is an unreleased item (don't worry it will be released post-fashion show which is this Sunday the 8th of Feb). It is part of my good friend, Mariska's Valentine's Day release.

Its hard to chose what to talk about next the hair, or the shoes!? I'm completely in awe at what is possible to create in SL! Especially after being around to witness the invention of FLEXI in designs! So, I'll go with the hair first since it has more flexi than the shoes.

The hair by Detour definitely stands out but is not for those with only a few lindens in their pockets. It is just under 500L for ONE color of the style. I even turned away the first time I demo'd it months ago! Then yesterday I spotted a picture that Bratty of Aluinn had done and was amazed at how well it photographed. So, yes I'm a glutton for good hair (especially one that photographs well) and picked this piece up called, "Johanna." I loved how the teal highlights made it stand out from my other hair styles and how well it went with the eye shade that I was wearing at the time (and in this style mix).

Now for the athletic heels! Something most likely not to be seen often in the real world, but my fashionista life is in SL, not RL. I love these! I picked up two pairs from Redgrave. It comes in six color variations so you can pick and choose or buy them all. Also by Redgrave is the skin that I am wearing. The skin is Naomi2 in Tan (might not be sold in the store but by special request). I'm also wearing Redgrave eyes from the Vivian skin line in teal green.

The look wouldn't be complete, at least to me, without a good tattoo which is another one of my faves called, "Tumbleweed," from a great tattoo store called, Etchd. They have such a good selection it is hard to pick just one. If you ever see me wearing a tattoo, most likely it will be from here.

Of course with the tattoos I had to be cliche and put on a piercing, but I was already wearing it prior to even piecing this outfit together. You will only be able to see it on the close-up head shot, but its there and gives that edge especially for this style. It is called, Diamond Medusa Piercing, Single. I adjusted it a bit to the side of my mouth instead of where you'll see it as advertised at RaveNation. She has a decent collection of piercings and other items worth taking a gander at.

Last but certainly too cool to be least, are the dual guns by Breach. They have everything for people that are much more into combat than I am, but are still wickedly cool for pulling off a look like this! This is the second pair that I own from Breach called, USP 1.1. They're extremely good about keeping items purchased automatically upgraded.

Next up - WINTER MUSE

02-04-09-Zoe-Winter-Close

02-04-09-Zoe-Winter

If you can't tell where the inspiration came from in this next outfit, you're blind or just plain foolin' yourself! The stunning and brilliant shawls by Zaara! Like many of my friends it is hard to pick just one, but I had to do for now with my first color choice of the bright blue with pink floral embroidery patterns called, "Kashmiri". Color is one thing that Zaara is not afraid of in her Indian inspired creations. She recently opened a sim and had a flickr contest to coincide with it (yes, I did participate). The sim is a treat to visit and dance at. The first time I saw Zaara's designs, I was impressed. Her Black Swan creation recently was absolutely stunning and a piece that I am very happy to make a favorite in my collection along with many other fashion pieces. Anyway, I could go on, but the shawl is why I pieced this outfit together.

This was a task because I loved this shawl paired up with another top but it didn't suit other items as I went along. Finally I decided to make it a nice warm winter feel by pulling out the long sweater in Navy by Novocaine. I love the contrast between the two blues. The sweater does come in a variety of colors and you can find a lot of other great styles unique to SL at Novocaine. I am always eying their hair too!

The wool pants that I added into the mix have a wonderfully textured wide leg. They are from LeLukta formally known as Cachet. I will miss the brand name of Cachet, but will get used to learning LeLukta. Though sometimes it can be pricey if you pick up a few items, I tend to repeatedly go back to fill in some gaps in my ever growing inventory. The textures typically meet the high standards that I will gravitate for along with providing classic and trend pieces.

The boots! Talk about eye-candy for the boot lover. Bax has stood out offering very high quality and unique style in SL. I luckily was appointed to help with the vendor picture of her ice skates, which I couldn't get over the detail of! The Patent Black Ankle Boot was an easy pick to dress up the outfit along with keeping it in the winter theme. They're also ultra sexy and I like how they peak out from under the wide legs of the pants.

I think the second thing one will see if not the first in the picture is the hair! It is such a cute vintage style that I had to have it after I first laid eyes on it via a blog on the feeds. I loved how it pops with the skin. It is by Curio. Which also has its own sim that you have to check out if you're a fan of Victorian Mansions. It reminds me a lot of Clue, and I plan to go back often. The style is called, "Gertrude" and comes in all the typical shades and more.

When choosing the skin I wanted to blog one that I hadn't used before and one that you don't see blogged often. Fashionably Dead has been housed on the Tableau sim and is extremely original. If you like Nylon Outfitters, you'll love Fashionably Dead. This skin pops with its blue eye-shadow and pink blushing features against the blue and pink of the shawl. It is what inspired going winter the most and I absolutely adore it with the mix I created here. The skin is part of the, "Noise," collection in the light series called, "Blush Blue."

Last but not least I pulled a usual prim lash style by Celestial Studios with some very ice blue eyes by MMS now LeLutka called, "blue." You can see how they shine in the close-up head shot. I also added the touch of accessory with the, "White Pearl Bauble Flower Ring," by Caroline's.

Thanks for reading! Have something that you would like to see pieced together in one of my style mixes, send me a note card in-world. - Zoe

A Double Bit of Style by Zoe Demar & Friend, Emmy Benigni

This bit of style is literally jam packed with fashion! I squeezed all the outfits into my typical format so thus you might want to check out the photos in zoomed view to make out all the brands packed into a total of 4 looks!

I just happened to be at Armidi when I was thinking about an item that I had recently seen blogged about and went to check out the feed. It was then that I noticed that Armidi had finally opened their new website shoparmidi.com to the public! And low and behold I go to the slurl Shop Armidi location and happen to run into one of my good friends, Emmy Benigni, at the same time. Long story short, we both ended up buying a few items from the site.

Its quite impressive the amount of work that can go into a project like a shopping website and I will say that Armidi definitely lives up to the quality that I have known them for. I think some RL companies could learn a thing or two from their site! I am sure that most shoppers like myself are happy to see some new items hit the virtual world and thus I wanted to do a quick mix-up using the items that Emmy and I purchased. I'll let the pictures do the talking.

Thank you Emmy for continuing to be a great friend to talk to and shop with! If you ever meet her, make sure to say hi she is really sweet and funny to boot!

MARCO - POLO

The inspiration of course has to be the newly released Armidi Polo Dresses

Just because the gown is the focus doesn't mean that you shouldn't accessorise!

*Edit-in* Please note that the Armidi items will not be purchasable on their sim as they want shoppers to register on their new website (linked previously). They do an excellent job of marketing! The items are only available via online at the moment. Please be responsible and read through their terms & conditions and privacy policy before registering.

Getting to know Zoe & A bit of style mix up

First I want to embark that today is the anniversary of 9/11/2001. I was in college at the time and by close association also knew someone that survived the tragedy. A lot of people can say that their lives changed on that day, but I had another incident that same week that personally changed mine. I do hope that anyone out there whose lives were effected in such a way that you are in a better place now than where you were on that day. There have been a lot of tragedies throughout history and instead of focusing on the bad, I try to celebrate the good.

The reason why I am celebrating specifically is that I can now finally work again without having to report to an immigration office. For those that don't know me well, I have been going through an immigration process for over a year. That now is changing and I can't wait to get my life back, so to speak. In celebration of this I will be having to get some new work clothing and thought that I would mix an outfit together that would be work appropriate in Second Life® too. Yes, I am a shop-a-holic like many out there. And btw, I do this blog just for my personal fun!

Glammin up the workplace

The influence for this look started with the hair. I stumbled upon Novocaine after a blog report on the Fashion Feed and went out and bought almost every style in at least 1 shade box. The style, Antoinette, is one of her newest releases at her store.

I thought about doing something full out glam but decided that I wanted to tone it down a bit to reflect on what I'm going through in my first life. Thus I took a dress that I adore from Shai called Roison Cocktail Dress in Zebra and detached the skirt and instead paired it up with another fave of mine, Chachet's GoldGlam full outfit, but keeping the shirt out. I love the wide legged pant that covers up the shoes.

And though one could just about wear anything under these, I wanted to glam it up with some WLB Gold & Diamond heels from Jador. The detailed flowers are amazing! With that I had to tie in the designer Jador for a second time with the ultimate bling ring that uses over 200 prims!! Not something to wear to fashion shows in SL!

To tie in the look, I used Redgrave's Rihanna eyes that truly feel like a reflection of first life. Along with this I'm wearing a PXL Linda skin that I absolutely adore the lips on. And last but not least, the lashes I'm wearing are prim ones by Celestial Studios Deviant line.

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar

Looking for the ultimate eye catcher to get the attention of the "just friends" guy or gal? Slip into this ultimate mini-dress by NanoGunk for a steamy change of scenery.

09-08-08-Zoe-Demar-Ultimate

This head turning number comes in 5 hot shades (other colors shown below) and paired with the thigh high boots from The Abyss will surely knock the socks off of any passer-by. I wanted to keep it rather modern yet simple with a newer hairstyle by MMS called Ribbon, shown here in Platinum. Definitely one of my personal must have hairs from their collection of styles.

Keeping the attention where it belongs I paired up the look with a neck clincher of a choker with matching bracelet by Tuli. Wearing skin by Celestial Studios that draws them into the wearer's eyes and bewitching lips. To finish it off Zoe is wearing Tuli's Mesmerize eyes in steel that will heat up any room if stared at long enough!

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar

A little bit country with a little of rock’n’roll is the styling behind this look. As much fun as it is to get all dolled up, I don’t think one can beat dressing it down to something more casual. I really wanted to take a look and twist it up a bit from different designs from across the grid.

Home Sweet Home
After taking this shot I decided that I really like this look enough to blog about it. I might blog some looks from some pictures but mainly the outfit has to hit the mood that I am in.
I had previously used these pants in a shot that’s almost a year old now, but I wanted to modernize it a bit with things I have picked up more recently.

Styling by Zoe

The pants are retro pair in maroon from Canimal. I’m pretty sure country isn’t what she had in mind designing these, but I really like how the black belt like material is in the lower portion of the leg instead of just as a belt at the top. The boots from Shiny Things are my old stand by that I tend to pull out often. The texture on them is still amazing, and they aren’t sculptie made as much as one would think! I tried to mimic the texture on the hat which I modded the heck out of. It’s originally a hair design with sculptie hat from Celestial Studios called Cowgirl.

To top the outfit off, I mixed in some more Celestial Studios with the tank in brick color. I have multiple colors of this top as it has all the layers you need, is quality created, and just goes with anything. The jacket is definitely something that sticks out when it comes to detail. It’s from the Inferno outfit by BareRose. I’m always impressed with the individual items as well as the overall outfits. And the best thing is, they aren’t over priced for the quality and color choices a buyer receives.

The curly ponytail hair named Chelsea is by Aden shown here in the color brown. I’m always floored by Aden. If one reads my blog they would definitely see a lot of Aden styles popping up because of uniquely styled and textured they are. I typically do have to adjust to fit my head a bit but with mod permissions I have not had many problems. The skin is Samantha by Soda; I like how natural looking it is which is what I was going for here. Overall I felt like this look could be used in a number of ways depending upon how you accessorize it. The boots and hat definitely give it the country feel but by only adding the wrap bracelets by ETD, it really gives it more of that rock’n’roll edge.

Thanks for reading :)
