A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Betty

Blogged: The Betty Draper Blogged: The Betty Draper

In honor of having Mad Men back on the air with season 4 - I'm showing off the two very different sides of Mrs. Betty Draper. The first being a very memorable moment with some neighboring birds. The second hitting more of the glam model side that she fronts when out meeting Don Draper's clientèle.

The inspiration started this morning with the announcement of new 69 hair by Kumii Yoshikawa. The BE style reminded me of Betty's hair and is one of three new releases which is only open to 69-VIPs until August 2nd. I'm happy to say she now includes a resize script for her hairs which I can appreciate as they've never fit on my head without adjustments.

Blogged: The Betty Draper

Originally I was going to go for more of her everyday looks, but my husband brought up the time she had with the BB gun and thus this look was born. I headed straight to Artilleri to pick up the Wilma dress in yellow that reflects the time period extremely well with the button down styled top which you will see Betty wear numerous times on the show.

I wanted to find some yellow shoes to match, but as usual - color isn't always easy store to store so I picked up the Tuli pumps in steel and choose the golden bow texture from the menu option to match it with shades of the dress pattern. Shiny Things hasn't been producing a lot of shoes lately but it still definitely has the quality you expect from shoe makers of today.

The cigarette from FNKY is an oldie but a goody. The smoke is scripted to be turned on or off by touch and comes with a variety of other in-hand, mouth, or on land options. The shotgun was a freebie that I found on xstreet by Cisco Lane that is originally huge as it is supposed to be for Tank Girl - but I scaled it down to fit the image of Betty.

As far as marriage bling, I choose one of the best looking diamond rings I have seen in a modern style by Yabusaka. I stuck with the League's Taylor skin in blonde but in a new make-up called Angel - seemed fitting! I really like it on my shape and find it harder to switch it up. My other faves made it back are the LeLutka Reflection eyes in glory and Silhouette lashes in Au Natural (I wear these in both looks).

For the more dressy Draper, I was actually going to try to not shop at Icing, because that felt too easy - but after shopping in another store I decided enough and pulled out another fave from Icing called, Evening at the Opera. I paired it up with another of Icing's creations of the glam stole that includes an AO as well as 2 ways of wearing it - wraparound (shown) or over the shoulder.

Again, I was hunting for something other than Paper Couture because again, I like to challenge myself - but in the end - I came back to pull out the sparkling sphere set. The closer to neck feature fits Betty's style of not being too flashy - but definitely having a wow factor. It kinda reflects her personality, trying to draw somebody in but rejecting them in the end.

The Shaken by not Stirred hair by Clawtooth is an instant fave - I wanted to go there to see if there was a more reflective style to Betty's hair and when I saw this I knew it would fit well. It probably could pass for a Jane style, but I thought still appropriate for Betty. So a lot of good hits for Tableau sim tonight as both Paper Couture and Clawtooth are located there.

Finishing off the look was Maitreya's Neyya heels in Pearl Leather. The right sheen to blend in with the top of the dress as well as classy enough to pull off with the style.

The pose used in the gun happy Betty style was a custom made by my husband today specifically for the blog. The pose for the Betty glam style is one of Dove's (of LAP aka Long Awkward Pose) 365 poses project. I highly recommend stopping by to check them out if you haven't recently.

Enjoy!

Love, Zoe

A Double Bit of Style by Zoe Demar & Friend, Emmy Benigni

This bit of style is literally jam packed with fashion! I squeezed all the outfits into my typical format so thus you might want to check out the photos in zoomed view to make out all the brands packed into a total of 4 looks!

I just happened to be at Armidi when I was thinking about an item that I had recently seen blogged about and went to check out the feed. It was then that I noticed that Armidi had finally opened their new website shoparmidi.com to the public! And low and behold I go to the slurl Shop Armidi location and happen to run into one of my good friends, Emmy Benigni, at the same time. Long story short, we both ended up buying a few items from the site.

Its quite impressive the amount of work that can go into a project like a shopping website and I will say that Armidi definitely lives up to the quality that I have known them for. I think some RL companies could learn a thing or two from their site! I am sure that most shoppers like myself are happy to see some new items hit the virtual world and thus I wanted to do a quick mix-up using the items that Emmy and I purchased. I'll let the pictures do the talking.

Thank you Emmy for continuing to be a great friend to talk to and shop with! If you ever meet her, make sure to say hi she is really sweet and funny to boot!

The inspiration of course has to be the newly released Armidi Polo Dresses

Just because the gown is the focus doesn't mean that you shouldn't accessorise!

*Edit-in* Please note that the Armidi items will not be purchasable on their sim as they want shoppers to register on their new website (linked previously). They do an excellent job of marketing! The items are only available via online at the moment. Please be responsible and read through their terms & conditions and privacy policy before registering.

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar

A little bit country with a little of rock’n’roll is the styling behind this look. As much fun as it is to get all dolled up, I don’t think one can beat dressing it down to something more casual. I really wanted to take a look and twist it up a bit from different designs from across the grid.

Home Sweet Home
After taking this shot I decided that I really like this look enough to blog about it. I might blog some looks from some pictures but mainly the outfit has to hit the mood that I am in.
I had previously used these pants in a shot that’s almost a year old now, but I wanted to modernize it a bit with things I have picked up more recently.

Styling by Zoe

The pants are retro pair in maroon from Canimal. I’m pretty sure country isn’t what she had in mind designing these, but I really like how the black belt like material is in the lower portion of the leg instead of just as a belt at the top. The boots from Shiny Things are my old stand by that I tend to pull out often. The texture on them is still amazing, and they aren’t sculptie made as much as one would think! I tried to mimic the texture on the hat which I modded the heck out of. It’s originally a hair design with sculptie hat from Celestial Studios called Cowgirl.

To top the outfit off, I mixed in some more Celestial Studios with the tank in brick color. I have multiple colors of this top as it has all the layers you need, is quality created, and just goes with anything. The jacket is definitely something that sticks out when it comes to detail. It’s from the Inferno outfit by BareRose. I’m always impressed with the individual items as well as the overall outfits. And the best thing is, they aren’t over priced for the quality and color choices a buyer receives.

The curly ponytail hair named Chelsea is by Aden shown here in the color brown. I’m always floored by Aden. If one reads my blog they would definitely see a lot of Aden styles popping up because of uniquely styled and textured they are. I typically do have to adjust to fit my head a bit but with mod permissions I have not had many problems. The skin is Samantha by Soda; I like how natural looking it is which is what I was going for here. Overall I felt like this look could be used in a number of ways depending upon how you accessorize it. The boots and hat definitely give it the country feel but by only adding the wrap bracelets by ETD, it really gives it more of that rock’n’roll edge.

Thanks for reading :)
