A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Street

I was planing on doing a nice elegant style when I stumbled upon a dress but when I was going around to stores looking for a piece to go with it - everything changed. Sey had some new items out for sale and I couldn't turn it down. Awhile ago I picked up a wrap around sculptie plaid shirt. Now they have these hoodies that are flipped open like you've just unzipped it and it has fallen around the waist. Thus my whole inspiration took flight towards a look to fit with it.

I knew straight away that I wanted to use the Kass Calypto dirty skin by The Abyss. Abyss skins have been a straight away purchase as I always know they're high quality skins - each one being unique. The skin also goes the best with the shapes that they offer - but I wasn't 100% on the body and ended up modifying a copy of my body shape with the Abyss head.

The challenge I had with the hoodie was that it creates a really heavy midsection and it being a jacket I didn't want to bulk up my top half with another jacket cause well that isn't realistic. So I needed to have my bottom half hold up the weight and finding pants that are still stylish without being the "in" legging style wasn't gonna fly. It took awhile but I pulled out a set of pants that I've had for awhile from Bijou. They're from an outfit called Exceed and typically go with a nice tank top layered outfit which could also fit with the look. Instead I choose to go another route because I like to mix it up. One feature that I did like by using these pants was no need for adding socks because it looks like they're already there but it is just part of the pants.

Did I say challenge? Because the footwear also was a bit of one for me as I was kinda thinking about showing off the newest Maitreya Gold pair but knew that I was going in another direction and thus pulled out some boots from Abyss but they weren't fitting the bill. I remembered seeing these League High-Tops when I had been in their store for good pants and went back to pick them up. What is awesome is the all the options that they are scripted with. You can choose from 10 textures for the buttons that are found on the side of the heel. The back of the heel has 5 graphical texture options. There are 2 options for sole color. And to top it all off you can choose any color you want for the laces, shoe sides, toe tip, heel, and lace rings. Other shoe options include size, shine, and glow. I decided to match it up to the hoodie in a nice brown shade for the main sides and laces. The other bonus was they were just the right height that I really needed to pull of the right form.

As for the upper half - originally I had picked out a tank that I have liked for a long time from League but switched it up to this Abyss USA t-shirt. I love the hem on to show off a bit more tummy rather than the standard horizontal. Gives it that edge that I wanted with the look.

I then felt I needed something else, and though I typically try to use my own thoughts ideas for inspiration - the store poster promoting the Sey hoodie used suspenders and thus out I pulled some that I had from League and really liked how it looked.

As far as hair, I went straight to my 69 hair collection and played with two styles picking this one out the Echo style in the end. My hubby said that it reminded him of Kate from Lost - I didn't complain one bit with that comment as I really like her look.

The lashes and eyes are both from Abyss' Opium avatar which includes the shirt as well as more awesome quality items. A bit pricey but worth it for everything it includes.

Feel free to comment to provide feedback or if you like the look. Comments are moderated to avoid auto-bot spamming but all comments are approved if from a real person.

Enjoy!

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Petal

First Life is complicated sometimes. It has been an interesting year to say the least for me and thus it took me away from my Second Life. I tend to revamp what I do in SL to keep it interesting and right now I'm not sure what that is. All I know is that I'm gonna just do what I feel like doing and take it day to day. Blogging is something I like to do so not stopping this anytime soon. I blog what I like and what inspires me in the moment.

Petal

This look was inspired by the Tourist Jacket by Fri.day. I have had the red one and with the sale going on now I picked up the brown shade. If I could make sculpties I would want to create this jacket. I love the ruffle detailing. Kind of a mix of military style with a feminine edge.

I needed some hair that was off the shoulder to show the jacket collar off fully and decided to go with the always creative and fresh hair by lamb called Ambrosia. With the hot summer days I would wear my hair up like this if I took the time. It makes me want to sit in front of a fan on the porch down in Louisiana or something.

The rest of the outfit is all Maitreya. I had picked up the girdle, bodysuit, and stockings when I was shopping for an outfit to model in for a friend's store. I'm a loyal and huge fan of Maitreya. Maitreya is modern and high quality. I know word was getting around showing the RL inspiration for these shoes but one thing I have learned is in copyright you can't place that on a shape. However, if that shape has a distinct print - that print could be copyrighted - so big difference if you are photo sourcing versus creating based on shape. My favorite part is the zipper. I admire those that can sculpt such detail (note the theme here with the jacket and now shoes). I do have to make a note here and thank designers that do included all layers in their items - this outfit would not have been possible otherwise.

The skin is the newest release by Redgrave called Zuri. I love the make-up to match in the color of the bodysuit. And I'm gonna go out on a limb a bit and speak more of copyright - I'm not a huge fan of photo sourcing if one does not have permission to do so. I'm not slandering Redgrave because a lot of people photo source using proper sources and I don't have any facts to be a judge of their process without having talked to the creators. So no torch lighting here, I did buy the skin didn't I? I do hope that all are reputable when using photo sources. I will have to give admiration to Redgrave for I feel like they changed the way of creating and selling skins in Second Life.

Finally the eyes are by The Abyss. They sell with one of their male skins called Dave Gears but heck eyes are eyes and aren't gender specific last I looked. I liked the soft hue that they create with the overall look.

I hope that you enjoy my look and appreciate any feedback. I know that copyright is a long and sometimes touchy subject. I'm no expert so I speak using my own opinion and knowledge and am always open for discussion.

Enjoy!

A Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar - Gone Denim

All sorts of good things to blog about lately but in the end I decided to pull together a bit of a look that utilizes a bit of the same colors and involving some classic uses of denim.

Gone Denim Gone Denim

I recently fell in love with the newest skin from LAQ (Laqroki) - Martina.  Which doesn't necessarily bode well for my typical blonde locks that have become my default look of late, but when a girl faces thicker dark brows one can change hair color - or at least in Second Life!  The skin comes in 5 tonal shades along with numerous make-up that is all very afford-ably priced.

Thus was the inspiration that pulled the look together along with not only checking out skins but the clothing over at LAQ.  An area which can be overlooked by many, but you can find a great collection for both men and women.  That was my main focus for this post.

Ladies First:

Gone Denim

I spotted this denim dress number and knew I had to have it.  One of my older faves from Nyte'N'Day is a denim dress and it was nice to find something here at LAQ.  It comes in a variety of shades the one shown here being my pick in a nice faded gray.

I paired it up with a new boot being sold at LAQ called Midcut Boots in a beige shade - again not the only color available but what I wanted to use with this look.

Mandala, a newer jewelry maker than where I typically look for great finds I originally came across at LE LOOK.  He has some fascinating pieces available - these Takara earrings and Takayama bangles being part of some newer sets.  I will also give him credit for creating the best SL to RL blends that I have seen.  I really don't encourage SL to RL blends personally as it is extremely difficult to make them look right.  My personal theory is keep SL to SL and RL to RL.

Another new release is the hair by Maitreya called Siri.  It is a very elegant and well made hair that comes in their typical variety of reds, blonds, blacks, whites, and browns.  It does tend to go well with a hair base but no fret to those that choose to go without - I say wear what you like!

I thought about going to my typical set of eyes, but decided to pull out one that I have blogged before from Tres Blah.  I have been meaning to see if she has released some more skins that I have been anticipating where I originally had picked up these pretty blue eyes that have a natural shade already there in their creation.

For the Guys:

Gone Denim

Based of my lady look I pulled out the same type of idea starting with the raw denim jeans that stood out to me at LAQ - it comes in both a gold or silver seam stitch option along with belt option and sculpted cuffs.

Easily I spotted a pair of beige urban oxford shoes at LAQ which fit the color scheme for this blog post.  I love how much detail goes into shoes.  I am continually amazed.  And for those of you that only want things in all black, yes they have other color options!

Having not been to the fashion section of LAQ lately - I have been here before for my male avie and was happy to find more of a selection available including this high collared coat.  I always have a hard time selecting only one color but went with the gray to help mimic the gray in the denim from my lady look.  It also adds a nice neutral contrast to the blue denim and beige of the shoe.

The jacket was pictured with a white shirt and black tie at LAQ, but I wanted to keep the look casual and teleported over to Truth to pick up one of his Sarg Henly shirts in a nice olive green shade.  I really feel like this is something I can see my hubby potentially wearing in RL - so long as it comes in black (he tends to wear a lot of it).  I was surprised not to see a nice navy shade (unless my eyes fooled me) - it may be something to suggest to Truth sometime.

Lately I've been on the look-out for good male hair and was happy to see this new option called Radient over in the LAQ hair section.  I'm not 100% thrilled with the texture close-up.  I can be a bit picky sometimes - esp when it comes to the lighter colors but can typically handle it most in the darker shades, which is what I wanted to use here.

I decided that I wanted to nab the newest male skin called Cruz over at Redgrave.  I originally spotted it on my friend Yelmer from Alphamale.  I liked the dimples as well as hair base - which you can't see here but can try out with a demo for yourself.

I did pair it up with the Cruz eyes.  Redgrave typically offers a good variety of what I believe to be photo-sourced eyes which is common throughout SL.

There you have it - two sexes with similar styles!

Enjoy!!

Newness from Tuli

UPDATE: The Skins are released!

Quick post to announce that Sayuri skins should be out today at Tuli - though not out quite yet!!! I just stopped by her store just before submitting this post to make sure.

Sayuri

I did use a different shape than normal for this post. It is from The Abyss which I rather liked. Other credits go to 69 for the hair, Linc for the top, Torridwear for the pose, and Exodi for the eyes.

Tuli's Sayuri in Tone 1

Do mind that she does have freckle and cleavage options which I did not show here and in another tone as well. As always Tuli does phenomenal work!! You can also get into her group to grab the group gift if you can't wait!

Enjoy!

Little Bit of Style by Zoe Demar in Spring Punk

I could have sworn it was spring until it started to snow today! Sometimes that is exactly what happens. Luckily in Second Life I can pretty much start any season whenever I feel like it, at least in fashion.

Spring Punk

Today came with some new Fri.day releases - mainly in hair which I can't help but say I'm happy about. One of the newest styles, called Scarlett, includes one which was the initial inspiration with the pyramid studs in the headband. It is very reminiscent of Scarlett Johansson, which is someone that I wanted to hit the style of with this look. Though typically Scarlett is dressed up in glam styles, she also has a bit of the punk/rock side to her which I wanted to reflect here.

I went with the yellow paradiso romper also by Fri.day because it isn't something usually seen and really pops in crowds. It also reflects sunny days which I tend to think of with spring. Fri.day team did a very good job on the textures, even the prims do a really good job of blending though because I don't edit my pictures to fit with poses when I blog, shows up a bit here. So don't let that hold you back if you're interested in making a purchase. Fri.day is excellent with seams, something that not everyone takes time with.

To bring in more of a dark edge I pulled out the my reliable standard of Maiiki black leggings which has amazing textures. And even if I have a hard time writing out the name, you can find the items still at Maitreya's main sim location.

The shoes for this look were an easy hit, bringing in the studs with these Digit Darkes Desire Heels. Originally I wasn't too fond of the textures that Digit had with her feet, but she has improved these a great deal, these shoes included.

I've been wanting to blog this necklace for awhile that I picked up from SEY. Something a bit more gothic than what I typically can be seen strolling around in but happy to find it a home with this look. I love the little details of the script on the skull as well as a diamond in one eye. I also really like having the length of y-shape chain especially when revealing so much skin around the neck, allowing me to get away with more.

Next was easy, adding a tattoo, but I did still decide to pick out one that is rock based from Garden of Ku. They have a huge selection of tattoos that I highly recommend checking out. I've had a few from there that I have yet to blog, but am happy again that today I got one out of my inventory.

The skin was a given, I knew I had to use Tuli's Eva skin once again as I've been a looong time fan of her work. She really continues to strive forward. Even recently her Hope skin line has become my default go-to look for Zoe. Something that I don't do on a whim. Eva I hope will become another one of my standards. I really liked pulling out a red lip make-up knowing how often Scarlett does the same. Red to me isn't something that anyone can pull off but if you're gonna be daring, it has gotta be red!

The lashes are a bit over the top, but that's what I love - why not push the limits a bit. I think it gives a great leap to the edge which is perfect for doing close-up shots for magazine covers or photo shoots. Mayden Couture has a good variety of lashes that I have had fun playing with.

Spring Punk Close-up

The eyes are one of my all time faves by MADesigns. I always tend to come back to them because of the soft calm feeling that they reflect. These are a must-have set in my inventory! And though I find some eyes to be a bit pricey, I do believe these are worth their weight.

Last but not least, I had this outfit all put together but once in the pose it didn't feel...complete. In art there is a rule of threes...and in fashion there is the rule of once you put everything on, take one item off. Well, in this circumstance the three plus leaving an item on ruled for me. I really wanted one more stud item to complete the package. It would be easy to either replace the belt with a studded belt, or the necklace. I even bought a necklace to see but it didn't hit the right vibe for me. And as far as belts go, I have one I could have easily pulled out by Refuge but wanted to keep the Fri.day outfit in tact and to also keep a bit of the glam to the look. Thus it was bangle or else. I hit up Refuge first, knowing that I had the belt from them but ended up finding it at SiniStyle which is located near to Refuge. So I have my artistic triad without sacrificing the other items that I wanted to showcase.

Enjoy!

Zoe's Late Night Inspiration

This is a different post than what I typically do. I was in a creative mood tonight and thus here is the result!

I was inspired by the hair in Cajsa's blog - and found that I had it also in my inventory. It is Exile's Love Song 2. If you haven't checked out Exile lately, you should. He has re-textured his hairs!

Along with that I have been admiring Tuli's newest Eva skins that will be coming out on the 18th (yes, soon!!!). I'm wearing the make-up 10 - but I have modded the color of the lips to a much darker shade to fit in with the hair.

And finally, I knew I wanted to hit a bit of a romantic note and thus added the beautiful LeLutka Ultra constricted dress.
